Just bought my first revolver. What do I need to know?

I've had a Springfield XD9 for several years now and wanted a revolver, so I ended up with a Ruger LCR in .38 Special. Haven't been to the range yet.

Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work you can always hit him with it.

get the stiffest bronze brush and nastiest solvent you can find, and know that you will never get the cylinder throats truly clean.

I was getting into that video, until he referred to the hound as "Sandor Cleeegan" instead of "Sandor Cle-gaine."

Ordered a High Tower Armory 90/22 stock. And I don't even have a 10/22. That was a nice conversation with the wife.

Get some speed loaders, maybe? Or speed strips if those are your thing.

I know single action feels great, but if you want to use this gun for defense, you need to practice double action - you don't want to cock the hammer and then decock it - that could lead to an accidental discharge.

That is cool.

You don't ask her about her clothes/shoes, why should she know about your guns?:colbert:

Messed us a couple of years back. We were eating dinner and the kid asked me how many guns I had. I answered honestly.....

I do ask her about her clothes and shoes, but we just give each other a hard time. I'm a lucky guy that she doesn't really care as long as I'm not irresponsible with my money and pay the bills/save. :D

Now to decide if I want to get a bull barrel or regular 10/22.

If you're going to use it anywhere but the range, get an ultralight bull barrel or a regular barrel. Or you can pick up a target barrel later, they're pretty easy to swap out. Keep track of this place, pick up a used one.

I just assembled a target 10/22 from parts, they're very simple.

Somehow 40 pairs of shoes isn't a problem but 14 guns are. Woman logic.

Actually, I've got it better than most too.

The FFL I work with was at a show today and got me a P226 Legion DAO on the way, but it should be about 40 days or so. At least I know I have one coming.

<snip>

That Bastard! I'll have to throw out any other reviews he's had on things... of all the mistakes.. I just don't know who to believe anymore..

Saw this new silencer thingie on reddit, looks interesting.

I saw these a few days ago on one of the gun sites. I like the idea of them, and would love to see them in real life. I've looked around at all the local dealers their site recommends, but none of them have it. I do wonder about minor things, like how much of a pain will this be to clean. I'd also like to see a real stress test on them from someone not involved with the company.

I'm betting they are a major bitch to clean, probably need harsh chemicals and time or probably some kind of low pressure wash. All that gas has to go somewhere, and since you aren't getting the blow back it's going out the front. So while it may slow down it's release, it's almost certainly collecting more of the material in the process.

I'd say the way to go would be one of the larger sonic cleaners. I've deep cleaned a couple of my Sigs with sonic and it works great.

all the arm brace mumbo jumbo bothers me, and I want a troy pdw stock kit

Yep, that is crazy, wish people hadn't kept asking the ATF if they were legal.

I don't like the travel restrictions with NFA guns, I live close to 3 state borders.
