YAGT: OMG I love guns

My uncle is selling off several of his guns and 1 of them is a Colt Python for $1000. My father saw it last night but I haven't seen it yet. He said it's either unfired or has very low round count. I would love to have it but can't afford it now, however my father might be buying it and if I do want it, he'll let me make payments on it.

now the question is if we do get it, should we fire it? lol
its going to be very tempting. i buy guns to use them for the most part.
Something like this though is very highly sought after and can bring a decent amount of money, especially if it's unfired.

ill buy it 🙂

But shoot it is my vote. They are nice guns. Just baby it. IE clean it after each firing, nice soft pads to set it on, nice lined case for it to travel in.

I really have never seen why people buy guns just to never shoot them. Even if you do keep it and sell it in 50 years youll have ot prove it shoots then as it adds more value for it to be proven working....or so all those silly shows make it seem. But really shoot it and take care of it and itll keep its value just fine. "Safe Queens" with no meaning are just funny to me. Hey i bought this gun but wont shoot it. No reason why just wont. Now if it was your grandfathers or dads and had sentimental value....hell yeah safe queen is perfectly fine....hell i have two guns that are that way that i got from my dad (one being a the first gun he ever bought, the second being an SKS he bought for my brother and I) but i still shoot them every so often.

Thats my opinion on it. In short, shoot it but take care of it better than you would a glock

Pretty decent day so far. Ordered 4 cases of 9mm which should ship out tomorrow. I have a half case of 5.56 en route. Ordered 6 factory Glock magazines for $160, which is a decent price in today's climate (people are selling KCI mags for that much).

I also picked up two rifles a few days ago. A Sig 522 SWAT (with a drum mag) and a milled Norinco Hunter.

I actually got the Norinco Hunter for less than what a new Mini-30 costs, and if you ask me, I'd rather have a milled AK-pattern rifle that takes factory AK mags versus Ruger's ranch rifle. Not sure if I'll leave it as-is, or do a Galil conversion.

The Sig 522 SWAT is, IMO, the Cadillac of tactical 22s. Obviously not in the same league as a nice AR with a .22 conversion, but it feels a lot less toy-like than the M&P15-22. The SWAT has the machined quad-rail, vs. the plastic handguards on the Classic.

Haven't found a deal on a bolt-action rifle yet, but I did make a little progress on the shotgun front. I bought this stock on clearance at Dick's for under $30: http://www.amazon.com/Blackhawk-SpecOps-NRS-Shotgun-Stock/dp/B001QGI2B6

Now I just need a Remington 870 to go with it.

Where are you finding these weapons and ammo? I have been searching for a DMPS .308 MK12. No luck yet except gunbroker where the guy wants 2500+. Like the gun but it isnt worth that kind of money.

As for me and my "want to buy list" Pretty much in my order i pln to purchase

Ruger 10/22 and Red Jacket Arms ZK-22 bullpup stock
M1 Garand
Sig MPX-C with suppressor in 9mm. SMG suppressed for plinking...heck yeah!
1911 in 45acp
a "big bore" of some sort. Be it a 458 socom upper for AR or a 45-70 lever action or something. Just something fun to shoot thats a large bullet.

Most of those I will pick up this year. The garand i just need ot sign up for a participating gun club.
You plan on ordering from the CMP? That's what I'd like to do except I'd have to sign up for a participating club as well. I'm already a member of the NRA and a local gun club but I don't think that's enough.

Firearms are all local in the classifieds. By the time I order a firearm online, pay for shipping, transfer fees, etc., it stops being a good deal and I lose interest.

Ammo I find online. SGAmmo, AmmoMan, TargetSportsUSA, MidwayUSA...all good places to order from. Sign up for their in-stock notifications because the really good deals sell out in an hour or two.

Yeah im going through the CMP. Check and see if your gun club is listed by them. If not, i signed up for The Garand Collectors Association. $25 bucks a year but only need to do it once. And 25 bucks is still cheaper than buying a garand elsewhere. Im just waiting for the membership to go through on the GCA then ill order my garand 🙂

If you don't mind my asking, what 9mm did you pick up and what did you end up paying? Prices are somewhat whacky theses days just about everywhere for 9mm.

I'd definitely look on armslist or check local dealers. I'm selling a $190 rifle and the dude is going to pay like $75 for shipping and transfer fees.

Blazer Brass 124gr 9mm for 30 cents/round shipped. I was used to paying 24-26 cents/round locally before the panic for the same stuff, but it's hard to find locally now.

thx. I just snagged another 11 boxes of Magtech 115gr brass for $12.50/box (+ $5 shipping). Immediately went to out of stock after my purchase, so hopefully that goes through.

Only issue is my PM9 absolutely HATES the stuff. M&P loves it, so need to use my other 9mm ammo for the PM9.

I need cases coming in on a daily basis if possible, sometimes I get better deals than others. A friend of a friend actually hooked me up with an unbelievable deal on 6 cases of ammo. I got some surplus brass .223 for 20 cents/round, Federal brass 9mm for 20 cents/round, and Blazer aluminum .40S&W for 20 cents/round. I even got a few hundred rounds of PMC brass .308 for 20 cents/round (that was a bit shocking, my previous low for .308 was 30 cents/round for beloved patriot surplus).

Yes!!! Looks like my 1k 7.62x39 HP are shipping tomorrow that I ordered back on 12/27. Paid around 28 cents a round shipped which is not bad considering that includes the 9.8% state sales tax. Can't wait to try varmint shooting with AK (thats not overkill, is it? 😀 )

Co-worker of mine had a reflex sight laying around that he's not using on his AR-15, so I picked it up for 100 bucks for my 15-22, and I got it to co-witness perfectly with my MBUS sights so I don't have to hit the range to sight it in.

Only downside is that the reticle is kinda blurry, but it does have a lifetime warranty so I'll probably end up sending it in and have them take a look at it.

The local ace hardware has a few p22's coming in on Monday and they are reserving one for me, cleaned them out of mini-mags (again), and bought all of their p22 magazines in preparation.

I used to own one, and sold it to a friend of mine so I could afford the new 1st gen Sig Mosquito. Worst decision I ever made, the Mosquito was terribad. I have a couple of other .22 pistols but I have always wanted a p22 again.

If it's in good shape that's a good buy, get it. Those things are only going to go up in value.

The CMP does seem like the best deal. Well dang, I'll probably do that since my gun club is not listed. Well, it is, but only the "Jr. Rifle Club" part of my gun club is, dangit. Oh well.

Also, for the marksmanship requirement, I'm assuming a CCL is sufficient (here in MI live fire training is required for it)? I have that as well as a certificate of completion from a handgun course I took in Houston, TX several years ago.

Oh man. Just checked Bud's Gun Shop and there's a Century WASR 10/63 auction with the gun currently at $1300. Good lord, mine was less than $400 (around $375 IIRC). Tempting to sell it and make a nice profit. :awe:

Dang, local store has bushmaster AR's for $900. I don't really want an AR that bad (well, at least a .223 one, I do want a .308) but it's tempting. Still, there is the knowledge that if I bought one it would result in one of the following:

a) getting my balls cut off
b) divorce
c) beaten to death
d) all of the above

*sigh*

Buy two. Decide after a day that you really don't need two. Sell it off. If someone happens to buy the extra for $1800 before you tell your wife you can pick option E.

Haha, I've heard that about the mosquito. Since when does ace sell guns?

Also, pontifex, plz buy the colt then take pics and videos.

Our Ace and the one in the next town has a larger sporting goods section than the hardware portion of the store. If the owner wants to have an FFL, they can sell guns there.

Ours has a huge selection (normally anyways), not only guns but ammo, accessories, gunsmith stuff, bows, and a full selection of reloading components from several brands. Ace is the place :awe:

Ask wife for balls back and then buy the rifle? j/k

Yeah I'm guessing you could probably make a nice profit if you flipped it haha.

Well, just found a Ruger 10/22 in stock and at a decent price. While I preferred to have purchased the takedown version (and still will get later on) I'll settle for what I can get at a good price today.

For those wondering, J&G sales has the plain jane Ruger 10/22 models for $249 + $16 s/h. With a $15 FFL transfer fee it's cheaper by far than anything around here right now.

No no no. Flipping is illegal. We don't want to ever tell anyone to do something illegal. However, if after a day or two he figures out that he only really needs 1, then he can sell the gun off legally all he wants.
