Ha, shows how great my reading comprehension is, I did not even see you mention colt :$

Thanks for that list of items, I'd only want to get into .45 to start with though I plan on keeping all my brass from here out (kept some .45). Eventually I could get into more but for now I just want to be able to keep shooting at the range.

I bet I can talk my family into going in with me on a decent setup...

What do you guys think of this sight? I wanted something fairly basic for my sig 522 and this seemed to fit the bill. Should allow plinking as well as gopher slaughtering at range. I know the brand/quality is not the best but it's a .22 so I'm not too worried about the recoil damaging the optic 🙂

Honestly, you should just wait for sales from places like Cabelas or Amazon and get yourself something better.

Cabelas just had a 100 bucks off Nikon Buckmasters scopes. So a 3-9x40 Buckmasters was only $129. You really can't beat those kinds of prices.

I waffled on getting one of those. Just don't know details of what I want right now for scopes just yet.

I did not want a full size scope, I wanted something smaller and more along the lines of an ACOG style. If I did want a scope for a .22 I would just get a simmons 3-9x40 for like $40. I have used multiple simmons and while they are nothing compared to a nice Leopold they work great for basic plinking and varmit control.

I am curious about that Kruger linked above from optics planet. I know nothing about them but it's not an NcStar which in itself means quite a bit, though NcStars "higher end" units are usually ok quality, at least the ones I played around with were. I'll give it a go ahead and if it works poorly I'll send it back and try the Kruger.

Now when I get my .308 I plan to spend a lot for some nice optics 😀

Amazon just had a deal too on some cheapo plinker scopes! Depending on how much you need it NOW!! you can wait for another. Simmons makes ok scopes in my opinion for what they are.

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of ACOG type scopes. So I'm biased, I prefer either iron sights or a real scope. But hell, I hated when they gave me an ACOG in Afghanistan. :colbert:

ACOGs are real scopes, though...I've got an ACOG TA31 RCO on my AR15 (the army version which I believe has the correct markings for a 16" barrel) and it's great for a medium range scope, while being light and working at night. I like my 3.5-10x40 on my M1A, but it's a big heavy scope.

But I've never gone through boot and learned irons like you would there.

..
A youth bantam pump 20ga shotty (like a mossberg 510 mini) for the girl
...
I brought a 20 home for the wife. I figured she'd be more comfortable with the recoil.
She turned her nose up at it and asked why I didn't buy a 12. 😱

So my future bucket list.

Ruger 10/22 takedown
Ruger Mini-14 (I just like the look of them)
A youth bantam pump 20ga shotty (like a mossberg 510 mini) for the girl
A stainless steel, double stack, with rail, full size 1911
A .338 Lapua or .50 bmg sniper (I just really want a sniper gun and always have)
A 12ga or 10ga pump
A lever action 30-30 rifle like a Big Henry or similar. Maybe a Grizzly
The new 28ga Taurus 6" barrel Judge

I'm not really all that interested in pure hunting looking rifles. They just don't tickle my fancy. I might get a pure cheapie 22 plinker though. Who knows.

Pretty much that's it for what I'd be interested in right now or the near future. There are several "historical" pieces I would certainly like for display purposes. M1 Garand, Moisin, Mausers, and the like. Maybe a nice older side by side shotty.

I'm not as interested in a ton of handguns. I got what I need and only would be interested in the 1911 for the piece of history factor (although the one I want is not quite the original design but I don't care), and the new Judge because that shit looks fun!

Curious what is the appeal of the 10/22 take down. Seen quite a few people wanting them yet i see no reason to really want one.

As for the 338 and/or 50bmg they would be fun but are so expensive to shoot really. And tiring. 20 rounds and you could call it a day. But would be fun for sure! But 3 bucks a shot kills the fun for me.

As for me and my "want to buy list" Pretty much in my order i pln to purchase

Ruger 10/22 and Red Jacket Arms ZK-22 bullpup stock
M1 Garand
Sig MPX-C with suppressor in 9mm. SMG suppressed for plinking...heck yeah!
1911 in 45acp
a "big bore" of some sort. Be it a 458 socom upper for AR or a 45-70 lever action or something. Just something fun to shoot thats a large bullet.

Most of those I will pick up this year. The garand i just need ot sign up for a participating gun club. The ruger project can be done pretty much anytime but ill pick up the 10/22 soon as i find one in stock. The Sig isnt out yet so ill end up on a waiting list im sure. 1911 i just gotta figure out which one i want. Same with my "big bore".

I have a take down, and I really like it. It is small enough it can break down and fit in my backpack for a hiking/camping trip, and stows easily under the seat of my vehicle with the included bag.

I have several 10/22's, but the breakdown is a very cool rifle that I think is well worth the money.

I put a set of tech sites on mine, and the thing is a tackdriver.

Basically for the reasons adairusmc lists. It can be broken down and easily carried. Great for camping take along fun. I could go with a Henry Survivalist I guess, but the weight on them is strange and I rather have bigger mags than what they have available for it.

I do like that Red Jacket Arms ZK-22 bullpup stock. Might have to get a second even cheaper 10/22 to go into that setup 🙂

For my AR15 I don't want a full size scope, but I do for my AR10. Since it reaches out a bit farther to touch some or something with. AR10 platform is a mini sniper and sapper platform. It can pierce things the AR15s can't and from a range. So I want a big scope for it, but still trying to decide on exactly what I'm looking for in that. I can wait as well on that purchase until a good deal comes along. Scopes aren't going to be banned ever nor will there ever be in price gouging on them. So I'll wait for the best deal for the one I want to come along.

I still haven't gotten my foid card. I've been waiting about 3 months now at this point. I applied for it about a month before the shootings. I can't help but feel they are dragging their feet because of it, or they are just inundated with people applying for their own in response to the situation.

Either way I'm worried that I won't get it until some stupid gun ban is passed and I'll be left to throw rocks when SHTF.

Gives me time to decide between a CZ P-01, Glock 19, or M&P 9 in the meantime I guess.

Could always move elsewhere. Would be faster and you wouldn't be living in that anti gun corrupt political cesspool.

Guess Im just one who doesnt see a use for them over a normal 10/22. But then again i wont take it hiking and if im camping with the intent to shoot ill have plenty other guns so it breaking down wouldnt matter lol. Hiking wise my 10mm is the gun of choice to come with me. (with 220gr hardcast underwood ammo)

Still its cool they make it i just dont see the appeal in it 🙂

The ZK-22 is nice looking and ive been wanting ot play with a bullpup and it would be cheap to shoot which is a bonus! Only crappy part is they are like 3 months out from shipping them unless youd ordered one awhile ago

Yeah, it's the breakdown for me. I like how small it gets. When I go out to the ranch and have a shotgun and a few rifles having another rifle not take up as much room is nice. Besides, it was on sale!

If you haven't noticed a trend, I buy only when things are on sale hah.

I always buy things at the best possible price I can. Haven't done that with the guns thus far, but haven't been jipped either.

PT92 for $330
PT111 pro ss for $350
Sig p238 for $500 ea
Tristar tec 12 for $530
Windham for $900
Bushmaster 308 for $1000

The only ones I've bought that I know have been a bit cheaper is the AR's. The windham has gone for as low as $700 and the bushmaster as low as $800 from my research. These are for new prices and not including tax. If need be, I can sell one of the AR's off to pay for the others. Although after much research I've found out I got lucky with 2 very bang for the buck AR's. I could have done worse for my money for sure. I am not stupid enough to get suckered into panic buying prices at least. I may not have got the absolute best deals, but I'd like to think they were decent enough.

Those prices don't seem bad at all. My 2 recent purchases were certainly higher than they were 3 months ago (paid $100 more for the WASR and ~$80 for the 522) but in both cases they were worth it on the off chance I can't get them in the future. What I really hope is that any legislation, at least that applying to banning certain models or magazines, holds off until May at the earliest. At that point some of my stock vests and even after putting aside $5k or so I'll still have a few $k left to play with...

Heh I paid under $400 for my wasr and at the time it was a considered high since only months before they went for $300 consistently.

Once I get some cash flow I gotta get some new furniture for it.

Yeah yeah, rub it in. I'm just glad the WASR's were well above $400 in the months/year leading up to the crazy times, at least they were around here. That way I don't feel too ripped off...

I got my ATI collapsible/folding stock and the quad rail front end, now I just need to install them. While they are on I'm going to sand and refinish the wood furniture. That way I can swap out from "tactical" AK to "classic" when I want. I'm actually not sure which look I like better, the rails are nice and fun but the look with the wood is... almost sexy. Seems strange but it is.

Haha I'm gonna toss my wood in the garbage 🙂 I move so much that I have to keep all extra accessories to a minimum.

Ah, thats kinda sad. I bet you could sell the furniture for a few $ to someone. Or at least burn it... sounds way better than throwing away 🙂

So I got a deal to trade 200 rounds of .45 acp and $60 for a mossberg 500. I paid $20.53 after tax for each box of 50 rounds. Thinking it's a decent trade 🙂

Not bad at all, I paid around $250 for my Mossy with the 2 barrels (18" and 28") you can swap out, but that was new. I'd gladly trade some ammo for a gun, especially when ammo is bound to come down in price. Heck, my last batch of .45 I paid something like $16 a box for shipped from PSA in November. Sure, it's blazer brass but it works great for the range and is fully reloadable.

My uncle is selling off several of his guns and 1 of them is a Colt Python for $1000. My father saw it last night but I haven't seen it yet. He said it's either unfired or has very low round count. I would love to have it but can't afford it now, however my father might be buying it and if I do want it, he'll let me make payments on it.

now the question is if we do get it, should we fire it? lol
its going to be very tempting. i buy guns to use them for the most part.
Something like this though is very highly sought after and can bring a decent amount of money, especially if it's unfired.
