YAGT: Need ideas for retaliatory gift-giving!

Situation:

Hanging out with girl for roughly a month now.
We are friends, may or may not turn into more. There may or may not be mutual attraction. Still kind of feeling it out.
Today is my birthday (I'm 21 😉). i got surprised with a nice shirt as a present, and some yummy energy homemade energy bars.

Need ideas for a return gift. We are not together, dating or going out, although it must be something meaningful. Flowers, candy are out.

What do you give someone in this awkward in-between stage as a thank-you present?

When I read retaliatory gift-giving, I thought you meant burning crap in a bag or something. Anyway, because it's your birthday, you're not OBLIGATED to return with a gift or anything. However, if you feel compelled to repay your friend to show her how appreciative you are, I'd say tell her you're going to treat her out to dinner as a thank you...that way you'll be together and it will be a quasi-date (just to get a feel for things to come, maybe)

*shrugs* sorry...not very creative
cheers,
KiM

Yeah, don't give her a gift just to return the favor, per se. Sort of make it up without making it up...take her out to dinner, wearing the shirt. She'll get the hint, biatch.
