YAGT: Need Help!

So I ended up getting a high D in calculus instead of the C I was running all semester because I tanked the final. Normally, no big deal. But I needed that C to get into my major at the university i am transfering to and it isn't possible for me to retake as all spring classes are full. Any ideas on convincing professor to change grade (that dont involve sexual favors of ANY kind?).

*Btw, this was my second time taking calc as I got a D LAST TIME too!

give up? i mean if this is the second time around and you STILL got a D....maybe it just isnt your major?
maybe you need to find another profession?
maybe you need to learn how to flip burgers?

Try a different major. I don't care how hard a class is, if you take it twice and still can only get a D, you need to find a different major to pursue.

I failed cal 1 three times. Had little to do with my ability to be successful. It was a matter of not doing the work. You make assumptions that aren't correct about a lot of people.

Same with my 200 level comp sci courses, I was easily bored and didn't do well. However I never made less than an A in my 400 level comp sci courses.

Then you need some motivation my friend.

I make no assumptions about anyone. No one should get a D twice in a major class, for any reason. If it's too hard for you, change majors. If the material is boring to you, change majors. Why would you do something that you aren't interested in?

I think you're more likely to talk them into waiving you into the class for spring than changing your grade this time.. why don't you try that?

Just go and talk to him, thats about all you can do.

*you're more likely to get it if the course you are transferring for has nothing to do with calc 😛

yeah, i am sure the major is right for me as the material isn't very hard, i just haven't been able to put the time into it while working a 40+ hour a week job. I aced upper level stats, macro and micro econ just fine. I have heard of quite few people having to take calc 3 times at my school. I think you are right eakers, he may just say keep going on through with a C since I am doing the BA in econ for the theory, liberal art, and business part, not doing anything too quantitative (Hence not doing the BAq or BS).

Considering I am already doing 35k with benefits at age 19, I think I will hold off on the burgers.

Exactly, but that says nothing about ability. I had a pretty damn good time in college. It hurt my GPA but honestly, I wouldn't trade the good times I had for a higher GPA. I am successfully employed now with a quality job.

You must really suck at math to get a D twice in any level of Calc (Unless it's advanced Calculus...proofs...). You might have ability on other fields just not in math, otherwise you wouldn't have tanked the final. If I were you I 'd go talk to my professor and see how close my grade was to a C, and if it's really close to it (like 1 or 2 points away) I'd ask him/her to help me out. In the end it's all up to your professor.

Regards

<----- WINNAR! CoE major for 3 years... took Calc 3 times until i sold out to MIS only then I earned a B+ in the same class.

no response yet from professor, one of three options may happen:

1. Professor changes grade, yay!
2. Doesn't change grade, but lets me into the spring Calc class that is already full, university admits me to my major pending the C or higher in calc
3. Doesn't change grade/also may not get into full calc class, i apply for spring 07 admission instead
4. I say ****** it, take my associates degree in the spring and go work for a while, lol, probably not happening.

5. The department sees the ridiculous number of times you failed calculus and slams the door in your face while laughing.

You either aren't smart enough or don't work hard enough to get the degree in your major. Either one is just as bad. If you really wanted the degree you would've worked for it. Your gpa probably sucks too, which will just make things worse.
