YAGT: Need Gift Ideas

I've been with my GF for about a year. Her birthday rolls around, she says don't get me anything. She knows I'm having money trouble right now. I figured I would make her breakfast when she came to visit, again, she said not too. Anyway, we had an amazing day just lying in my bed... and uh, hangin out 😉. We ordered lunch, I paid, she said I didn't have to... but i figured that's the least I could do (usually we split). Anyway it kind of upset her that I didn't do anything for her on her birthday.

Our anniversary is Christmas, so I need to do something special. She's not Christian, but I think they still put up a christmas tree.

So... I'm broke, she knows that. But I need some cheap gift ideas for the next time she visits. I'm a good cook, so I could always do that. But I was hoping for some advice.

Make her some some burnt CD's, DL and burn some of her fav movies

This is true. A tree with ornaments on it has nothing to do with Christ. In fact, Christmas itself originally had nothing to do with Christ until the early Catholic Church subverted the pagan holiday in order to convert more people to the new religion.

Exactly, I don't see why Jerry "FallWell" is angry about people in Mass changing the name of the tree to "holiday tree".

I have two houses, it'd be a pain to put up two trees, eh, maybe my parents will do it.

are you at all creative? what about writing her a poem (not sappy or tacky) and putting it in a picture frame? or, if thats not your style,m find a poem already written and frame it for her.
If you are a good cook, make an amazing (but inexpensive) dinner for the both of you with candle light, soft music, give her a single bloom of her favorite flower.
Then, with dessert, give her a little card with your perception and memory of the first time you both met. Tell her how you really felt, if you thought you would end up together, etc.

That way, she will know you thought things through, yet did not have to spend a lot of money on it.

there are plenty of nearly free things you can do.

-learn a song for her on the guitar
-arts and crafts

if you know photoshop, make something with a picture of you and her, then spend about 5 bucks on a wodden picture frame, and decorate that up if you want.

if she has a dream of traveling somewhere, say europe, photoshop a bunch of pictures of you and her into the best places in europe and make a power point presentation for her.

find a the exact loveis from christmas last year 12/25/2004, then print that out on a sheet of paper, shade the back of it in pencil. Buy a cheap blank wooden plaque, and trace that drawing onto it. Borrow a friend's wood carving set, and carve out the drawing. Then apply finishing on it. (You might want to parctice carving, this will take you about 2-3 days, or 1 day of total dedication).

buy a wooden box, a blank one, maybe about 14X8X6 inches. Give that to her, and then take her to go buy paints and stencils and decorate that box with her. Tell her its something for her to keep all your memories in. This one is pretty cool. You guys will have a whole day occupied, doing something together, and you don't have to do all the work yourself.
