The damsel in distress...or the independent woman?

I see plenty of girls who are seemingly helpless on their own and depend on a guy to take care of them...and these girls seem to always have boyfriends. Is it because the girls seek out boyfriends because they find solace in always having someone there for them...or do guys just find that quality in a girl more attractive? just wondering what your thoughts are.

cheers,
KiM

Edit: Of course middle ground's always good 🙂 ...but if you found two people who looked exactly the same..but one was 25% damsel, and 75% independent...and the other one was 75% damsel and 25% independent...which would you choose? Considering all things equal.

Independent for sure. This day and age the woman has to pay her own way. At least, I'm not going to be paying or support her, thats for sure.

Going back to the Cat Person vs. Dog Person thread, I think a cat person prefers a strong, independent, self-reliant partner while a dog person wants the damsel in distress or helpless guy that can barely open a can of instant soup.

I'm a cat person.

Hmmm...suffice to say that I prefer something of a "middle ground". I don't want somebody so klingy that they're going to drive me nuts - on the other hand, I don't want somebody who's so bound and determined to be independant that they seem stand-offish. It's OK to let your gaurd down and lean on somebody else once in a while; after all we're only human. Just don't do it to the point where the two of us need to be surgically separated 😛

Well that's crap. I'm a dog person and I can't stand chick who need to be taken care of. I'll take one who will argue with me and do what she wants and not cowtow to me.

It's obvious why the damsels in distress always have someone... they need someone. And most men out there aren't that picky. The Independant women want to be just that... independant. And then they want to be bitches much of the time and not be around men or treat them like crap because we're just trying to 'hold them down'. This is ONLY SOME of course.

Exactly. Its nice to be needed sometimes, yes. But if I feel like I have a child, not a girlfriend...its just not going to work. On the other hand, totally independent people act like they have something to prove and are to hard to get close too.

Isnt this the wrong place to ask such questions? Come on, most of these teens will never see certain female body area's until they're 25!

Well, ATOT wife thread indicates that those guy's arent looking for any in particular 😉 Dont get me wrong, the odd miracle around here does happen (i.e. social skills + geek + friends) but other than that, I feel you should be asking the guy your interested in.

I would have to say I love an independant woman, but am always a sucker for the damsel in distress.
and with my distressful independant woman that I have right now I may have found that middle of the road thing...

Middle ground Must be able to do her own thing but realize that a couple needs time together to stay bonded. The same goes for the man. I hate women who are airheads, no matter what they look like.
