So, I've almost come to the point where I can afford a rock for the future wife, yet I'm totally clueless as to how to propose. I need some help here guys.....The actual proposal will have to be mostly my ideas or else I'll just feel like a loser, but I could really use a few suggestions to get the ball rolling...

i think the proper way is to go to the girl's father and ask him for permission to marry the daughter. (in the daughter's presence). but that is only if it is like your first wife, and she's like 25 and younger. i think.

i'm a stickler for tradition. :)

I will be asking for the old man's permission.....her family is pretty traditional. She's 25 & my first wife, but I won't be asking his permission in front of her...that's just creepy.

well, i dont know the specifics really...

hey, i'm only 18. probably at some point i'll ask my father how to ask someone's father for their daughter's hand. (if you can decipher that)..

This one guy in college (but to be honest, the couple was a bit over-the-top aka honey poos and crap) made a fairy tale like book for the girl. It had pictures of them and told a fairy tale and ended in happily ever after will you marry me stuff.

Except for all those other smarmy PSU grads that do that. Someone I work with just got engaged in front of his dorm at PSU last week. :D

I guess I was not that original then. Anyway, I was unaware of such practices before, so I will take credit for it. ;)

You did it first :D I just like to knock PSU people. I'm in Philly area so lots of Lions. My gf's brother bought some blue and white PSU Xmas lights. We had a good laugh when his Jewish friends asked why he had Hannukkah lights!

I didn't propose. It was more like a mutual agreement.

Ditto for us.

However, I was engaged just after graduating from university to someone I had dated off and on for many years. He took me on a trip to celebrate my graduation, and on the first evening, he proposed in a restaurant at dinner. It was really romantic and it was really nice to have a few days to ourselves before facing the families.
