My chances are about the same as yours, but I'd rather rely on more than crossing my fingers and hoping...good luck with that.

OK. I don't know what statistics your reading (maybe the Daily Mail) but OK.

Can you guys just start ignoring him?

In an effort to change the topic, what do you guys think about this guy? I'm picking it up from 10 day jail this Friday. I stick to 9mm, but it was a deal I couldn't pass up.

Springfield 1911 lightweight loaded. The guy polished the frame, added night sights, a new trigger, egw sear, mainspring housing with magwell and an ed brown grip safety.

Started the 10 day jail for this guy last Saturday and will be picking him up next week.
I'm a sucker for 9mm 1911's. Much to the detriment of my bank account.

Very nice...sucks to spend so much time in jail though, hope it survives the showers un-molested:)

I'm not a gang member or drug addict and I live in Texas...by demographic I'm at least as safe as you are holed up in England, then again I also have the option of the .45 I carry should the situation call for it.

QFT most women don't like the automatic shells flying at them, don't know how to clear a jam, etc.

Hammerless revolvers are popular here in S. Florida with women.

What you having?

I stand by both of the above statements.

You know I just figured you out. Read your L&R thread, very enlightening. Your long-term memory only lasts for 6 days, everything past that is re-learned facts. So you really have no idea what the human trauma you're suggesting is like unless it's occurred in the last 6 days. Therefore you have no idea what you're currently wishing on other people with your beliefs outside of a theoretical academic understanding, which is hardly the same thing as actual experience.

Would explain your collectivist attitude too, and why you generally determine your beliefs based solely on statistics. (and therefore treat people like statistics to an extent) You don't understand individualist standpoints because you lack the experience to relate.

Huh. Well you may not be as entertaining as some previous trolls, but at least you've got a good excuse.

2nd. Just getting the GF into shooting but so far she prefers the simplicity of my friend's Colt Commando to the 92FS. Especially when it comes to cleaning.

That's nice. I like 1911s, but I don't have one in 9mm yet.

I have the following:

Kimber Tactical II .45
Springfield Compact Operator .45
Smith & Wesson 1911 w/Crimson Trace grips .45

and.... fresh from the gun store....

Kimber Eclipse Custom 10mm

Can't wait to break-in the new 10mm. :)

Hunting is not a legitimate reason to owning a gun IMO, as it is an immoral practice.

Target and sporting uses does not override the number of people that die from personal gun ownership.

That is all.

One thing I think the anti-hunting crowd forgets: Centuries ago, humans essentially wiped out the natural apex predator population in North America. Bears, wolves, etc were all over hunted. A carefully controlled legal hunt in a way replaces the top level predators, which is of required for a healthy population of prey such as elk, deer, etc.

Good call, my memory definitely has something to do with my morality, but I would imagine that anyones experiences or lack there of would contribute to their morality. Obviously you are right my entire sense of ethics is based on theory rather than practical understanding, however I would argue that this enables me to be more objective when viewing things without any emotions clouding my logic.

I do realise that, and it was wrong. In ancient greece men used to have sex with young boys for pleasure and women for reproduction. Just because it used to happen doesn't mean it's ok.

Oooh... 10mm. What are you going to break it in with?

I don't even have any 45acp and will have to pick some up. Even my ar is 9mm. My friends call me a blasphemer.

If you have the means, I highly recommend a Kimber should you decide to go with a .45 ACP. They are in another class.

With all the things you 'claim', no one ever kicks your ass? Personally, I'd imagine a good beat down would be in your tiny window for quite a few weeks, enough to adjust and then forget about it.

What I am getting at is that a controlled hunt is actually beneficial for the respective animals population. At the same time, I completely respect your position.

I really can't fault any of my .45 1911's. They all shoot well. The S&W is very comparable to the Kimber.

That's the question. Ammo is a little pricey. The cheapest I can find is 60cents a round. Gotta shop around and see what I can find. :)

I guess were more civilised than you are... None of my beliefs deserve violence.

I understand your reasoning but I can't justify in my head that killing is ever morally acceptable (accept where it is the lesser of two evils) With hunting I always believe there is another way. Also at the same time I respect your position.

You have to kill to eat...whether it's an animal or a plant.

I probably have the means, especially now that we have "community set" of 2 dillon 550's and a rock chucker among my friends. I'm just too invested in 9mm (maybe 6k?) and don't want to bother starting to stock another caliber (along with bullets and brass).

I also get much better placement with 9mm. An all steel 1911 barely moves, even with 147gr jhps. :)

I haven't had any personal experience, but my friend had 2 kimber raptors and he wasn't too impressed. He went back to springfield for couple of professionals and a dan wesson cbob.

Next on my list is probably a kahr k9 or p9 and maybe a pair of smith and wesson m&p's (1 with a pink back strap and some pink anodizing with lefty controls for the wife).
