Yeah, in the past, I've noticed a personal correlation for preferring the version I've heard first -- e.g. in classical music. It's not fully deterministic however, because there are exceptions.

In this case, I saw the more recent one first. It's more romantic as well; the original Solaris wouldn't really work at all in this context IMO.

Update: Went with 40 year old virgin and it had her laughing the whole time. After the movie I manned up and made my move. She seems quiet and shy but after I kissed her and initiated "everything" she really wasn't all that shy afterall
