Take a look at the first page of posts here at ATOT. YAGT's are spreading like a plague on this forum and I'm here to put a stop to it.

We aren't your parents, we aren't therapists, counselors, consultants, or best friends that have known you for so long that our opinion is something that can really help you in your life. We are random people throughout the world that originally came here for some unrelated tech advice and discovered a cool place to hang out and post off the wall stuff. We have just as much knowlege of what goes on in your personal life as some dude you talk to standing next in line to pay for gas. Yet for some reason, the YAGTers drop extremely personal, life changing and critical questions asking for advice and hoping for insight. Why?

Granted, this is OT, post what you want. But it seriously worries me when I see kid after kid taking relationship advice from kid after kid. Talk to your parents, please. If you can't talk to your parents about something like this because "hey, some things are too tough to talk about" then find a close friend. And if some random stranger on the forum is as close to a close friend as you have then seek professional advice as in a counselor or someone else. For you old guys looking for relationship advice here- get a freaking clue.

Does anyone else feel the same as I do about this?

Thanks,
MrLee

This place is full of adolescent male losers who haven't a clue how to deal with women so what do you expect?

I expect more from the intelligence that I see here to not find relationship answers from random strangers strewn across the world...

First off, as much as i am annoyed (somewhat) by the flood of them that occur at certain times of the year (i.e. school breaks and summer vacation), I truly feel a person can get some good advice on this forum.
You are correct that we are not parents nor guidance counsellors, however, we are peers, some older, some younger, that have had similar experiences that are willing to help.

It truly is the same as someone asking for help with a computer issue on another part of this forum. This is Off Topic. Relationships are important in the main age group here so instead of whining, do not read them or, better yet, offer some honest, personal advice in the chance that you can help a fellow member.

eh... most people probably arent actually looking for advice so much as to vent about something. And ive seen some decent advice given, but it ends up being exactly the same in every YAGT thread. There should just be a self help thread, i.e.

1) If your GF just broke up with you, proceed to step 3.
2) If your GF asked you x question, proceed to step 4.
3) If the reason she broke up with you was __, proceed to step 5.
...

Good luck with that. While you're at it, we could do with:

1) a cure for cancer
2) money trees
3) the meaning of life
4) beer

I disagree, I like hearing other people whine about the girl that they havent been attracted to since the start cheated on them. Even though they saw it coming they are torn apart and now want to spend rediculous amounts of $ on gifts for said ex...

Just don't read them if it bothers you so much.

You can quite easily just not look at them or go elsewhere.l

Some peopel have sh!t friends or no friends that they can talk to. Be thankful you do have friends.

I vote a YAGT forum should be created purely for the entertainment value of the posts. Some of them you can't help but laugh about. The one where the dude had to punch out his girlfriend's best friend because she kept abusing him was gold!

Ever think that they are lying to themselves if that's true? There is always someone closer to you than a stranger and the person you are having issues with. It sounds perfect for this forum to be 100% reliable on only the internet for companionship but in all honesty it just isn't true. There is always someone to talk to. Always...

We might get a kick out of reading how pathetic someone else is but people get screwed up when they really take things to heart.

I'd be hard pressed to find it again. I'll try though. Anybody remember this thread or the original poster? I think he was asking when is it alright to hit a girl, lol.

Agreed for the most part...

Some of the YAGT are really stupid though because it becomes painfully obvious that the OP of the YAGT is just attention whoring, but most of the time the kids just want to know what to do. Although I would say this isn't the best place to figure out what to do in personal situations, advice anywhere, if "taken with a grain of salt", can be a useful learning experience.
