YAGT 101
Things you have to do:
1) Establish a setting and the antagonist. Set up the thread by telling everyone how cool, pretty, hot, and awesome the girl is.
variation: put girl in distress and in need of rescue.
example: We met about 4 months ago at a club where she was performing <insert pic>. She was getting hassled by her ex.
2) Develop the protagonist. Describe how fvcking cool you are, how understanding you can be, and how mature you are.
variation: describe yourself as just getting out of a relationship, this testamonial will prove you are good material.
example: Now, I am usually really cool about stuff like this, but that dude was being a total jack ass. I wasn't looking to get involved b/c I Had recently broke up with my ex and just wanted to chill.
3) Define conflict and set the plot in motion. Describe what has happened up to present time. Be sure to describe the conflict (you can't have a YAGT without some kind of conflict).
variation: have multiple conflicts
example: your ex is hassling you about something while her ex is stalking her.
4) Present a dilemma for your protagonist (thats YOU). Describe a scenario where the protagonist has to make a choice. Be sure to describe the consequences of each option.
variation: Present dilemma and choices, but then describe how the consequences where unanticipated or unpredictable.
example: So I thought that she was in real danger, but wasn't sure if I should call the cops. If I call the cops, she might hate me for interfering. If I don't, her ex might beat her up. I decided to call the cops, BUT now he is after me!
5) Leave plot unresolved. This will allow you to milk the thread for 20-30 posts before people stop reading it.
variation: give the story a false ending, like in Aliens 3.
example: So she said that I should call her later. What should I do?
WHAT DID I LEAVE OUT?
