Anyone have links to firearms basics? How the mechanics works, how the popular designs work and what makes them popular. I know someone who brags about how his had has a TYPE56-a is this some crappy AK-47 copy or not?
 
Here is a start.

Various designs are popular for different reasons. It all depends on what role the firearm is needed for.

The Type 56 is nothing more than another AK47 clone.

Edit: Also, the main attraction to the AK47 type rifles is that they are extremely simple to manufacture and extremely reliable.

Yeah, but all those threads should be posted at yagt.org, so this clears the way for more important things, like guns.
