Hi,

Ill keep it short.
My longterm girlfriend has real esteem problems, any links you people could recommend, or should I have her visit some shrink?

Im trying, but progress seems to be very slow.
It varys a lot, although she says to me not to let go when she's in one of her down periods, which are becoming more regular.

Thanks, txxxx

See a doctor. THere are lots of treatments for depression....
Yep, if it's real depression txxxx is at an absolute loss to help her. All his effort will do is waste time she should be spending with a doctor and it will drain him and divide their relationship. The average guy wouldn't try and fix his girlfriend's broken leg, so the same goes here. The thing with depression is you may think you can solve it with gifts and being nice, but that doesn't work.

As for the OP's girlfriend, how old are you all? Still in school? If so, is she involved in any activities at school? That's the quickest way to meeting new people and trying new things. What about her parents? Are they active in her life and does she respect them, and they respect her?

I'm in the same boat; my gf has very low self-esteem, and I think she might have depression as well. I've been telling her to see someone, as I really don't think it's normal for a girl to be this way all the time... I would say at least go see a doctor or someone and see if it is depression; if so, it's treatable.

Her family are good, and all other things like academic and such are good. She's still gets down. Pushes away but appologies later.

Most of the time, she's real good, and I can cheer her up. But when she's low, she keeps saying how she deserve's no-one etc.... Kinda realised this isnt normal.
