My first girlfriend and I started dating when she was 16 yrs - 11 months and I was 19 yrs - 5 months. We didn't have sex until she was 17 + 2, but as I think about it now, it was very stupid what I was doing. I wouldn't do it now, but I was young and blinded by love. She looked over 18 (6' tall), but of course, most girls do.

Good move OP, dropping this budding relationship.

I've thought about it all night and I decided not to do it. I believe 21 and 17 is too much of a difference too.

as always, generalizing is never a good idea. There's possibility that 21 y.o. male is not mature at all.
Having already been 21 I can honestly say most of us are not terribly mature. I considered myself the most mature person I knew at the time and that isnt saying much at all. I think my distinguishing characteristic at the time was knowing enough to not drink myself to death.

So true. Sitting at around that age, I can't get over a little asshat and tool I was the past year. And last year, I thought I was the *hit. Definately changed a lot after college started, so anyone who's still in high school or even college is probably not 'mature'. I also thought I was mature at 14, as did many others. Wrong. This is also the reason why I hate people my age and those still in any type of sub-graduate school.
