#2 is probably wondering why your ex was in your apartment, trying to committ suicide, and why you cancelled out on him afterwards. You need to cut all ties to the ex, as he's not where you want you be. The new interest needs some reassurance that these shenanigans aren't going to continue. If you can't talk it out to the point of reaching some accomodation, dump him. But don't dive into another relationship until you're really done with the earlier ones.
