What is my gun collection missing? What should I save up for next (if anything)?

Rifles

  • Rock River Predator LAR-8 (.308)
  • LMT AR-15 (.223)
  • Century Arms AK-47 (7.62x39)
  • Russian SKS (7.62x39)
  • Russian Mosin Nagant (7.62x54)
  • MSAR STG-556 (5.56/.223)
  • FN Herstal PS90 (5.7x28)
  • Beretta CX4 Storm (9mm)
  • Marlin lever-action (22lr)
  • Winchester Model 94 (.30-30)
  • Bushmaster ACR (.223)
  • Ruger Mini-14 (.223)
  • Ruger SR-22 (22lr)
  • Henry Repeating Arms lever-action (38sp/357)
  • Montgomery Field bolt-action (22lr)
Shotguns

  • Remington Wingmaster 870 Pump (12ga)
  • Montgomery Field pump (16ga)
Pistols

  • Browning Buckmark (22lr)
  • Browning BDA (.380) -- This is my CCW --
  • Ruger SR9 (9mm)
  • Springfield xDM (9mm)
  • FN Herstal FNP-45 (.45)
  • Kimber Tactical Custom II 1911 (.45)
  • Smith & Wesson 1911 (.45)
  • Springfield 1911A1 Compact Operator (.45)
  • Kimber Eclipse Custom II 1911 (10mm)
  • FN Herstal Five-Seven (5.7x28)
Previously owned and NOT recommended

  • Walther P22 (22lr) - picky with ammo and not accurate
  • Sig Mosquito (22lr) - good grip, but not accurate
  • Kahr (9mm) - nice gun, but the wife and I didn't like the long pull of the double-action trigger.
Any recommendations for my next toy or should I just focus on reloading gear, magazines and ammo?

Here are links to pictures from the web. I don't have any pictures of my actual guns available yet.

Do you not have reloading gear yet? If not, I'd focus on that.

You also seem to be lacking a semi-auto shotgun. Perhaps a drum loaded saiga 12 should be in your future? 9mm 1911? A 1919 would be nice as well. You're also missing a precision long-range rifle.

Otherwise, nice collection. Which reminds me, I need to post in the official yagt what i just got thread.

I don't see a good bolt gun on the list, and everyone needs at least one of those. You might also look into an AR57 upper.

What's your favorite 1911? I've been shopping for awhile now, but there is soooo much fanboyism it's about impossible to find unbiased reviews..

A big honkin rifle, like a 338 WM or larger. In case you're attacked by armored bears.

I dont see an M1A or M-14 on your list, but you have some comparable items so maybe you dont need one. I also dont see a basic 22 bolt action but you have a couple others so I dont think you need one of those.

If you wanna good pocket pistol (not necessarily for carry) get a Sig P238 or 232, or a Ruger LCP.

I like Springfields. Depends on how much you want to spend too.

I also like springfields. I don't like kimber as much since they tend to cost more. I don't think they're worth the price.

I really like rock islands since they're so damn cheap.

I like the recent sig 1911's as well, but I've only shot them and have heard compliants about holster compatibility.

Dan Wesson is really nice, but they've raised their prices recently.

I personally love all three of my 1911's. I think the Smith & Wesson and Kimber slightly out-perform my Springfield, but that might be because the Springfield is a 4" barrel and both the S&W and Kimber are 5".

I'm not much of a shotgun guy. The two I have were inherited.

The Garand and Carbine are good things for the list.

I have also been thinking of maybe a cowboy action revolver of some sort. That's the one thing I don't have is a revolver.

As far as reloading, I have gear for almost every round. I just have to get it set up. I don't have reloading for the 7.62x39 or the 7.62x54. The x39 is just cheap to get, so reloading isn't a priority and the x54 I don't shoot a lot and haven't found brass for.

Thanks for the input.

Yeah, the Les Baer or Wilson 1911's are nice.

I already have a 1940's model 1894.

I haven't found a Glock that I like the feel of. Every grip I have tried is too big and too square.
Are you a small person? It seems that if people get started with a 1911, they can't handle anything bigger or a different grip angle. If a person starts with something like a Glock, they can handle nearly anything. I think it's just a matter of stepping outside of what you are used to. They are the best selling handguns for a reason.

Go handle a Glock 19 and see what you think. It is arguably the best all around handgun ever made. The fullsizes are a little larger and I agree that they don't feel as nice. I so want a 10mm but the 20 just isn't comfortable for me.

I'd be curious to know what percentage of Glocks are in the hands of law enforcement but outside of Glock corporate, I don't think those numbers exist. I don't think it is as high as you think.
