My grandfather is looking for a new revolver. He originally was looking at another .357 Magnum but has been impressed with the .327 Federal Magnum round and is now looking at revolvers using that round.

Thus far he's only found a Ruger SP101 but he's been on a waiting list for ages and can't seem to get one in his hands. He's a big Ruger fan but is willing to view alternatives. This is the only .327 Magnum revolver he's been able to find.

He's looking for one with a barrel length between 3-6" and can hold 6 rounds. Any suggestions?

EDIT:

Upon him not finding other .327, and after taking into account that yes, the ammo may not stay around, he's curious as to good revolvers with barrels not under but as close to 3" as possible that take a .357 Mag or .38 +P round.

He's curious as to suggestions on top of the Ruger SP101 and S&W Model 60.

I think the SP101 is the only gun chambered for the .327 Magnum currently. I remember reading a review in Guns & Ammo that said Federal and CCI/Speer developed the round specifically for the SP101. Hopefully another company will release a gun chambered for that round, or your grandfather will have luck tracking down the Ruger.

Hopefully your grandfather reloads his own ammo because most rounds like this fade away quickly. Even if it stays around, ammo is more expensive because demand is low.
