Okay, some people truly believe in a God. I can accept this and to each their own. I personally don't believe in a God, but if some people take some comfort in the idea of a God, then that's great for them. I'm not here to question whether there is a God or not (who am I to say anyways?), or to question the substance of people's beliefs, but comments like this really make me wonder about the people themselves and if they really know what they believe:

``During the penalties God was with us,'' said Ronaldo, Portugal's 19-year-old winger. ``We have to celebrate this moment. It was wonderful the way the people supported us from inside and outside the stadium."

Taken from a tsn.ca article about the Portugal/England soccer match today.

Yeah, cause God cares about Portugal winning a soccer game

This is just an example. Superbowl-winning-touchdown-receiving receivers have made comments about how God wanted them to catch that ball etc.

No flames (although I know by post 250 there will be some). Just some random thoughts I had.

I've always wondered this too. Why does God only support the winners? Isn't he here for all of us? If not, why did he send Jesus for all?

bob costas had some critical words for mark brunnel some years back. it had something to do with brunnel saying "our team's doing so well because our fans are christian."
