I'm curious, I see all these threads about the Atkin's diet and the like, but I rarely see anyone who "feels" they are over weight post about physical activity

Yes, physical activity is beneficial in losing weight.

For one, you can cut fewer calories out of your diet if you're burning more of them.

Well...part of the Atkins Nutritional Approach is a recommendation to be more active and do some exercise

No, actually a perfect balance of sleep and lounging, while eating exactly 2500 calories per day and ZERO CARBS AT ALL is the best way to loose weight.

No wait, I forgot, I'm not RETARDED so this question should have never been asked. Of course physical activity has a huge role in losing weight. If someone is ridiculously fat they'll need both obviously, and may never slim down if they exercise more and eat the same. But if someone is chubby like me, they'd know that in periods where they do a lot of physical stuff they'll look and feel a lot better, and will probably eat more just cuz your burning more energy and need more fuel.

THEAFADS!

Me and the wife, in an effort to keep fit and slim, make a point to have sex 3 times a day. This activity will burn many calories, I highly recommend sex over a gym workout to keep fit and trim.

In my opinion, physical activity is essential to healthy, long term weight loss. There is a reason the vast majority of dieters end up fatter than they were before and many yo-yo between fat and thin so drastically.

Americans have become so seditary, that the FDA is redoing the food pyramid. They say they can no longer assume even a baseline of physical activity. . .

All of these health nuts are going to have the joke on them when they're all lying around in hospitals dieing from nothing.

:D

Seriously, though, mortality isn't the only reason I do this. I like to be able to do active things when the opportunity arises. I like to be able to spend a week skiing without pooping out after two runs each day. I like to be able to play games with my nieces and nephews without having to pull the, "I'm getting too old" line on them and spoiling our fun.

Finally, I like to look good. :)

Only on a site like this would someone refer to "overclocking" their metabolism. ;)

Of COURSE physical activity makes you lose weight. It's really not that hard. If you take in more calories than you burn, you gain weight. If you burn more than you take in, you lose weight. Simple.

It is assumed that physical activity is beneficial in losing weight. Go find someone out there who is stating "STOP EXERCISING, IT MAKES YOU GAIN WEIGHT".

Watching what you eat and remaining physically active are both parts of a whole to remain physically fit and healthy

Hope that clears it up for some of you.
