YAFNLT(friend needs laptop)

my friends going off to tech trade school (he actually knows very little about computers)

its far to time consuming to research every laptop from every company so ill just lay it down

if you have suggestions and know about laptops that:

have a pentium m
have ati mobility(m11 or m10)
have good build quality
and dont cost an arm and a leg

then let me know, any input is appreciated. btw it MUST be a x86 based laptop. for some reason they dont want apples

whats some not so well known sites to buy laptops from?
i remember coming across some links but searching this forum is trouble some at best of obscure links.

THINKPAD R seies. Nothing fancy, but a solid all around computer will will last years.

I agree, i have an R32 that cost 1100 brand new a couple years ago. I added a larger HD and more mem but it is a solid lappy.

give us a solid budget is better. how much is an arm or a leg? will a $1800 t41 kill him?

R series is good, but it is depends on what configuration you are getting and model. R51 is good, it can up as high as $1500 too. R series is not superior like T or X series. it means for affordable.
