YAFFT: Quarterback Woes

I had Hasselback and Leftwich on my team. Hasselback is hurt for the next few weeks and Leftwich lost his job and I desperately need a quarterback. I was able to pick up Pennington this past week and he gave me a whopping -1.75 points!

A guy in my league is offering me Brees for Desmond Clark and Berrian. I think it's too much - esp. cuz I'm week at WR. What can I counter with?

I don't need Clark because I have Gates. Berrian is one of my better recievers but I have Coles and D. Jackson as well. He doesn't seem to want any runningbacks - but I have LT, Westbrook, Maroney, and Fred Taylor.

How can I get brees without getting ripped off?

find someone else to trade with or just pick up a mediocre QB. a couple of weeks with a crappy QB shouldn't take you out of the playoff race since you have a pretty solid team. i've had bye weeks where i was unable to play a few slots, but rather than panic i just took a few losses. most of my core team is still with me and they're kicking ass.

Well, keep either Maroney or Taylor to fill in for the Westbrook bye this week obviously. BOTH RBs will be sharing carries, and both RBs are playing Weak run defenses. Here is the thing, with the Pats playing the Colts. I would have to guess that the pats will be down early and will need Brady to start firing. While Maroney will do well, he won't be used as much if the Pats were playing someone else.

Never trade LT. So start LT and Taylor this week. Trade Maroney away. After this bye week for Philly, I see no reason to start anyone but LT and WB every week. I would fish out other teams with a Desmond Clark/Maroney package and see what you get.

Look for teams weak in those areas, especially TE and see what you get. Offer the 2 for 1 special that usually works well.

Be reasonable, understand that the combo listed above isn't going to get you the likes of P. Manning...or even Eli.

Don't take QBs that are on the fence, IE David Carr. Also look at the waivers, Garrad is projected to do quite well against the Texans this week, and im sure he is available.

Thanks for all the feedback - I picked up McNair (playing Cin) this week to tide me over, but I'm not sold on him.

Gerrard, S. Wallace, Huard, Kitna are all avaliable - and I'll need to look at the matchups again. Romo is gone in my league.

Brees looked like the best option for a trade - he seems pretty consistent week in and week out. It's a good idea to offer Maroney and Clark and see if this guy bites....

Kitna is available? WTF? Pick him up. ATL 2ndary is struggling despite what D.Hall says. Wallace is a BAD option againts OAK even though they are at home. I would go with Kitna personally.

Kitna and Huard are both fine until Hasselbeck gets back....if Huard keeps his job when Green returns. You could do a lot worse than Kitna b/c he's always playing from behind. Trade a RB for a QB if you must. I'd trade Taylor and keep Maroney. Maroney is going to be a late season stud.

This is true, with the Pats record and the fact that they won't have a decent QB in there for the remaining games, Maroney will run over defenses.

I wouldn't trade either Taylor or Maroney until after this week knowing that Kitna is avialble. After WB bye this week, trade Taylor and Desmond Clark for some WR help.

Sounds good, going to drop McNair and pick up Kitna - also who should I get - Pittsburg D (vs Denver) or Jacksonville's D (vs Tenn)?

The only problem with Garrad is the fact that Del Rio might start either or at this point. He might not even play the entire game. If Leftwich starts, he might be pulled for Garrad. Where is Kitna in there? Probably around the 10 point mark. Johnson is a lost cause, so is Brunell, Losman, and Big Ben. Fantasy wise, these guys are too inconsistant. I would go with Kitna still or McNair even before Huard.

He is actually projected for 7.95, Mcnair is slightly higher at 8.75

I don't think that is accurate. DET will be playing from behind and won't be able to run much. As I said 2 posts up, ATL is giving up an average of 350yds/3.5TDs to QBs that past 2 weeks. 300+ yards with 3 TDs would put up outstanding numbers for Kitna. This also wouldn't be unobtainable for Kitna, He has done it before.

Thanks Mike, I took your advice last week and picked up Kitna. I was about to start him but at the last minute I picked up Huard. The league I'm in gives 40 yards / 1 point and TD / 6 points - so I figured better odds on Huard. But I kept kitna in anticipation of a 49ers matchup - I'm not so sure now after the numbers Brad Johnson put up against them...

Are you KIDDING ME? Brees for Clark and Berrian when you have Gates is an unreal trade, take it in a second. Berrian sucks and Clark isn't Gates, and you need QB badly...
