So I was expecting a package today at home. Got there when I usually expect FedEx to arrive and I went upstais into my den - which overlooks my front yard - and started playing some UT2004. As I was playing, I saw the FedEx truck pull up. I paused the game and went downstairs. Halfway down the stairs, he rings the doorbell. I kid you not, I'm about 5 steps from the door at this point. By time I open the door, he is already back in his truck! I had to yell at the top of my lungs to get his attention.

So he gets back out and hands me my package. I say something along the lines of "whoa where's the fire chief?". He just looks at me funny, takes my signature, and walks away.

No wonder people miss so many packages. It's like racing a fscking bullet.

It was a Sig Req'd delivery, not just a drop-off.

Same thing with their driving. I was sitting on a small two-lane road, waiting to turn left through a 4-way intersection. I was pulled slightly to the left in the lane, although that doesn't mean there was any room on the right for anything but a motorcycle. Damn Fedex truck comes barreling up behind me, goes to the right, hops the curb and drives past me to take a right (without stopping @ stop sign) all missing my car by about 1-2".

I don't blame the drivers though, I'm sure their corporate overlords enforce this sh!t on them.

Yeah, I've had a close call or two with a couple of their trucks. I understand the job sucks... but this guy literally was ringing the doorbell and walking away at the same time. What the hell?

I'd imagine most of their drivers don't know what customer service is. They move boxes from A to B, they don't care about anything but moving as many of those boxes as possible. As long as they can say they tried, that's all that matters.

I'm sure they know what it is.... they just have orders to not care. 😉

Yeah, sometimes I have to wonder if they get paid for "attempted" deliveries?

If not, it only makes sense to try harder to get the package delivered. After all, most FedEx drivers are sub-contractors. More deliveries = more money. Why waste time and fuel on a return trip if you only need to wait 2 minutes or make a quick phone call to ensure you complete the delivery?
