YAFDT...crashes thru guardrail of parking garage, falls 4 floors and lives

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The pregnant woman who drove her car off the fourth floor of a Springfield parking garage was actually going forward rather than backwards as originally thought.

Sargeant John Delaney told 22News that the woman confused the gas pedal for the brake, drove through the iron guard rail, and fell onto the pavement below on Dwight Street.

The car landed on its roof, but the pregnant driver emerged with non-life threatening injuries. She was wearing her seat belt.

Yeah, it's all true.

You gotta be going at a good clip to smash a tiny car thru a steel gate...and uh, about that brake pedal? Know where it is? :roll: "Oh my, I seem to be going in the wrong direction and heading for that fence! Maybe I should apply the other gas pedal?"

At least men are drunk when they do something this stupid.

More hang time = greater impact

Good point. I think good/bad driving is more dependent on the individual's approach and experience driving more than the sex of the person. I know plenty of good female drivers, and plenty of bad male drivers (and vice versa).

I've spent A LOT of time on the road, and me and my workmate used to have a fun game. It was called "spot the female driver". We had a 95%+ accuracy in our guesses. Say what you want, but if people can tell what sex you are because you're driving sucks, there's a problem.

No, no you don't. As already stated you can tell female drivers on the road without even seeing who is driving.

Whenever anybody does something stupid on the road I instictively think "what is this dumb lady doing?" And almost always, without fail, it is a woman driving.

They are genetically and biologically not able to drive well. It's how they are made.

Ok, so pregnant women shouldn't be allowed to drive anymore. Its a start at least.

Also, I know plenty of women that drive just as fast as men but with 1/2 the attention span, coordination and general driving skill.

I'd rather be a passenger in a good driver going 90 than a terrible driver going 65 that confuses the gas and the brake.

If you once ONCE ever confuse the gas and the brake you should not be allowed to drive anymore. That is basic, basic, basic intelligence, skill, coordination, whatever the hell you want to call it. It should never ever happen. Come on people.

The problem with men drivers is that they often think they are more amazing and accomplished than they are. It's what gets them killed in fiery crashes.

I think women who haven't driven themselves a lot over the years are probably not as good as women who have driven a lot -- same as men. It's a simple matter of experience building skill.

I've seen women do things on the road that cause me to think "you are the reason we get this stereotype, thanks lady." I've also seen men driving stupidly and with too much aggression so that they can get to the stoplight first and think "you are going to get us all killed." Which is worse really? The person who injures only herself and looks foolish, or the man who takes out a whole family of people because he had to get someplace first/faster?

Ok first off of course some woman are better than some men. I mean.. it seems like 100% of black people are loud in movie theatres but its probably closer to 80% so I guess I can never just say "Black people are loud in movies"

I guess the problem with driving is that the roads are only as safe as the worst driver. So if someone (man or woman) cuts off someone speeding in the left lane and the speeding guy crashes, IMO its still the fault of the idiot that cut him off. Sure if the guy was going the speed limit he might have been able to avoid the accident, but person at fault is the one that cut him off.

So if everyone was a great driver, we could all go 100 on the highway and not have to worry about people swerving, cutting off, slamming on the brakes for no reason, and losing control of the car. But unfortunately there are terrible drivers that are often ALSO doing their makeup, reading a newspaper, and talking on a cell phone, which makes the roads unsafe for anyone regardless of skill.

The guy getting killed in crash at age 50, that is also his only accident ever is obviously worse than the woman that gets into 4 accidents a year. But that doesn't make her a better driver.

when i was a teen working in a restaurant, there was a salon next door. an older woman mistook the gas for the brake and slammed a cadillac thru the front window, pushed the waiting couches 15 feet into the service counter, and all of them 6 more feet back into the first row of salon chairs. the noise was epic, we all ran out to see what happened. there was 2 women waiting for haircuts on the couch, one was pushed to the side and not hurt at all, the other was launched over the service counter and didnt get hurt very much at all. the cadillac had a bent bumper. the cops on scene told us they get a lot of calls for this stuff where people miss the brake and hit the gas.

Negative. Women lack the mental capacity to drive. This is fact, everybody knows this. It's not a slam, it's a biological thing. Same with women hear better than men, it's just biology.
