Do they get guns? If not, a hell of a lot more than 2,000,000, since at that time, fighting was their business.

As long as he has 1 M240G, a few replacement barrels, and a ton of ammo. 1 guy could do it. King Leonidas can be his barrel-swap man.

M240G effective range - 1970 yards
Persian Archer effective range - couple of hundred yards, max.

Depends on whether they'll have the ability to call in an air strike or not.

Edit: I'd imagine having about 50 machine guns set up would do it...they wouldn't have to kill them all...after seeing a few hundred get mowed down, the others would run.

Bingo. Lie down on top of the Hot Gates cliff, and just mow away.

Hell yeah! You wouldn't even have to aim at all!

When I was watching 300, one thing just didn't make sense... they had giant elephants, thousands of archers, bomb throwing people, horned rhinos... yet no one thought of bringing a catapult?

Even though the elephants and rhino made little sense on their own, catapults weren't commonly used, perhaps not even invented, at the time of the Battle of Thermopylae.
