YAET - Yet another exercise thread

My main goal is to put on some mass, however I don't want to get fat. I haven't done cardio in quite a while and am around 6'1" 185 pounds. I used to lift weights after work and then do 20 mins of cardio after my workout. I'm thinking about running in the morning now as I have been running out of time after my weightlifting workout.

To the point: Will running in the morning on an empty stomach help me get ripped by burning fat or will it use my muscles as fuel and end up taking away my muscle mass? Is it better to run after your weight lifting workout or have a seperate time for cardio?

i would always try to run before lifting in the morning. Wakes me up, gets everything stretched and moving, and I dont really tear anything. When you lift, you tear the muscle, so I try to avoid running on freshly torn fibers.

I've heard it's the best time (less carbs; more fat), and also that it's the worst (kills muscle).

Honestly I'd say the best time is the one you're going to go at. That's a cop-out answer, but morning, evening, after sex, 6 minutes before lunch, etc. are all less important than just doing it, so pick whichever time is most convenient to you and forget about the minute details. If you were a pro athlete it could be worth greater consideration, but otherwise I'd not worry about it.

I agree almost in entirety. And Im too lazy to point out small complicated exceptions. SO just go run already.
