Jeebus, its written in 3 different places in my auction, that I only accept non-credit card Paypal. But nooooooooooooo... they just HAVE to use a credit card.... arrrrggggghhhh....

edit: you win

the only reason people use paypal is because it allows em to use creditcard.... otherwise there is no paypal to begin with. Suck up the 3% sissy...

I think some people don't realize that they need to link a checking/savings account and the CC is only used as backup if the funds are not available.

Take that option off of your paypal account, go back to basic.

Then you can really stop whining about an easy fix.

I do! I denied the person's payment, and now have to wait for the person to realize that he paid with CC funds.

Why does it matter?

cause paypal takes 3% of CC transations

BFD, that's 3 dollars for every hundred. The ease of paying with a CC MORE than makes up for that.

Why?

I wont bid on something that wont take PP CC payments. If you don't let people use a CC, you only limit the number of people that will bid, and thus limit how high your item will go.

Take the 3% hit and accept CC payments. Your auctions will go higher.

Set your PayPal preferences to deny CC payments, that way you don't have to manually reject & explain yourself each time.

I used to not accept them, but now I do. I hate the money they take away, but oh well. I think you make it up for higher sale prices.

well I usually only pay via CC funds unless I already have money in the account from something I've sold because when I did have it setup with my bank account I had $1000 dollars stolen out of the account and it was a hassle because it was through my bank, and required alot of work. When it is a credit card it would be easier to resolve and you don't have to worry about not having it in your bank account for awhile(like I did) aftering getting ripped off. 🙁

plus isn't it like 3-4 days to transfer money from your bank to your paypal acct? i want to pay now, with my cc. suck up the 3%

the solution is pretty obvious, just add 3% onto the cost. why would you take less money if you should be getting more? i know i wouldnt settle for that.

Okay, let me know when your next auction is and I'll just subtract $3.00 from my winning bid if it's no big deal.

Here is a simple fact: MOST eBay users do not read the auction page. This is the reason why so many idiots get scammed -- and they deserve to be scammed.

Most of us, by now, have seen auctions that sell *information* on how to obtain the product and often, you see people bidding some ridiculous amount. I've even sold broken hardware on eBay and I stated that it wasn't working and that it was for those that can fix it. Needless to say, the item sold for about as much as a working product.

Anyway, I've had the same problem with morons paying me with their credit cards. A simple fix is to uncheck the Paypal option on your auction page and in your e-mail to them that asks for payment, write that you cannot accept credit card payments through Paypal. I haven't had one credit card payment ever since I went to this method.

If the alternative is to wait a week for a MO or check (and wait another week for the check to clear) that may or may not come, yeah I'll give up $3.

You can setup two paypal accounts. One for cash, the other for credit. I called paypal and set another up just recently. Havent used it yet, however, but I will.

The only thing is that you have to use a separate credit card for the second account, and you need a separate bank account as well. Otherwise, you will be unverified, but you address will be verified, asssuming you use a different credit card.

No.

You can't do this via paypal rules, and I've heard stories of people getting busted for doing this and having their paypal funds seized and their account closed.

no kidding. ummmm. wasnt me.

fwiw i don't bid on auctions that don't take paypal credit card... there is simply not enough protection if this isn't an option.

AkumaX, I totally know what you're going through. I wrote it all over my auctions I don't want credit card paypal's. Eventually I gave up since the majority of paypalers are under credit card accounts! I just bear with the annoying charge from now on.
