So I bought this cd changer off ebay a couple weeks ago
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3095831476&ssPageName=ADME:B:BN:US:1
thinking it might be a worthwhile purchase for a pos ford. Now it says right there in the auction title for ford, lincoln, pontiac, and within the auction description he states "Can be installed in ANY VEHICLE!!!"

So I get it and the packaing is sub par, the main package with CD changer is falling apart and bubble wrap haning out, The controller module is luckly still in its OEM box though. I was pissed at this though since he charged me $20 s/h and the total postage on the packages was $9.
Everything seems brand new but the connections on it seem a bit funky. I was thinking by "any vehicle" it ment either FM modulator or something like that. No it means it has some wierd connector that I'd have to buy that would adapt to whatever vehicle I'm installing it in, none of which were included. I also notice there are no manuals in any of the boxes so I ask the seller for them. He replies fine he will send them, and if i want i can ship it back for a refund.

Now its been a week, I get nothing in the way of manuals (I'm in tucson, he in phoenix) and so i file a square trade report, well needless to say he blows up (letter in all caps), accuses me of being a hassle to deal with and he sent stuff. I already left this guy a negative but now hes trying to get it removed. Anything here that would warrent a removal since I think its clear hes shady as hell?

Cliffs notes : bought cd changer, not as expected or desc in auction i think, shady shipping, promises not followed through, now wants me to remove neg feedback

Well it says it can be installed in any vehicle... indicating that it will work in any vehicle. Knowing this I would assume that I would have to have a cable that would fit my specific car.. as there isn't going to be one connector to fit a Ford, Caddy, and a Pontiac. It would have been smart to ask before you bought, although he could have been a little more specific.

As far as the $20 shipping, that's what was stated, no problem there. Giving him a week to get stuff to you before filing a report is jumping the gun a bit.

Sounds like he did a pretty poor job with the transaction, but there are steps you could have taken to prevent some of it.

ugh yeah, its your fault for not researching more on the model. also a week to get extra documentation is a short time by ebay standards.

Is the problem that he didn't put the info in correctly, or you ASSumed too much about the product from a one setence description?

The only thing it sounds like he was wrong about was "but all come with their original manuals", which you said you didn't get, AND that he said he sent them off.

While I don't like to think that a fellow AT'er should get the shaft, I believe you were in the wrong. :(

Should of contacted him & tried to get a deal worked out before leaving him a neg. After a neg, most bigger sellers can afford to just ignore problems that they might have normally tried to deal with. Never leave a neg until all hope is lost.

well i guess my fault for seeing it at the last minute on what looked to be a decent deal...i just thought with ford/lincoln/mercury in the title it ment it had adapters for those.
I dont get how you can put "can be installed in any vehicle" only to "forget" to mention that your going to need to buy some other expensive parts as well though. To me installed means that its good to go, not that I'm going to have to go hunting for extra parts. It seems just really shady practice to me, especially when your listing specific makes of cars in the auction title.
I guess i forgot to mention that he said he shipped the manuals on the 21st...i think from phoenix to tucson they would've been here by now if that were the truth. At least everything i send to phoenix gets there in a day or two...i mean we are only 100 miles apart.
Also I ahve no problem with $20 s/h for this item WHEN the item is properly packaged and a decent method is utilized. He used first class mail and OEM packaging, which in my book falls way short of what a "good" seller should be doing.
From now on going to be sticking to heatware and forums i think....this is the second time a guy in my opion has screwed me by description on ebay and getting tired of it.

I still dont believe I'm in the wrong :p Just I made a bad decision...oh well I'll sell it back here on ebay soon once i can figure out what the adapters i did get go to (since i prefer to give all info up front)

edit to resp to above: all hope was lost soon as i filed the "square trade" dispute (which i always do in cases like this just cause it keeps a record). He acted like a total ass and said no refund.

Filing the square trade dispute was a good step, but a neg shouldn't be left until ALL hope is lost. If there is absolutely no way to get your money back, & square trade & ebay do nothing for several weeks/couple months, then you leave the neg. Giving every option enough time to develop would of taken longer, but better chances overall.

Take it as a learning experience & absorb all the suggestions already put forth by the members. Sell it later like you had originally planned.

I don't think that you should have left him a negative at all. In fact, I think that you're wrong in this also. I don't see where he was at great fault...you should have waited longer for the manuals.

Never leave negative feedback so early...
