Advice needed.

I bought XYZ from a seller with 11,000+ positive feedbacks. NO worries, right?

He traded emails w/me; very fast to respond. I sent him a money order for$XXX dollars. Sent it Certified Mail, Return Receipt.

He got the MO, emailed me to LMK he got AND he mailed back the card. Great.

The next day I got an email from FEDEX; "Notice of FEDEX Ground Pre-shipment" with my address on it. Great.

A week later, it still hasn't actually shipped. I called FEDEX to verify this. Last night, I emailed him and asked him what the deal was.

"It should show up for your tomorrow, Sir." Is the reply I got. Well, it's now tomorrow and nothing is showing up.

I highly doubt this guy would ruin his rep on EBay for a few hundred dollars.

An ideas here?

I agree. Still, hear me out.

When you advertise something for sale, it's assumed you have it in stock and ready to ship, yes? Right.

If you get my money on Wed, and by the following TUESDAY you still haven't shipped it, then there is a problem.

I just emailed the guy, with basically ^^^that^^^ in the email. I hate being dicked around. :|

I sell things I don't have in stock all the time. If it hasn't gone out in 3 days I refund you promptly.

Who says it hasn't shipped? He had the shipping label ready, maybe fedex did the pickup and it didn't log into their system. This happens all the time....

In addition I've had fedex deliver packages and forget to get signatures or never show it was delivered.

I agree.

It's generally bad practice to sell things that you don't actually have in stock, and I make sure that I mention the stock status. It just prevents headaches.

But I agree.. keep conversing with him. A week isn't really that long, sh!t happens.

You have to do it right to cover your ass. For example, I keep 1 or 2 of the item in my possession when I dropship in case I can't get it ordered or my supplier runs out.

You also have to tell them it's being dropshipped and refund quickly if it's apparent you can't get it. By the way, companies sell things tehy don't have in stock all the time. Amazon sells things not scheduled to ship for days or monthes. When you order items from Dell it might come from Tech Data or Synnex.

Thanks guys. You're right; I'm a bit low on patience. I was in the bathroom when God was giving that out. :D

All I ask for is some honesty; apparently, that doesn't exist these days.

"I got your money, but I won't have it in stock until Tuesday, I'll ship it Wed morning." would be fine in my book.

The email is sent already. We'll see what he says.

ps
He verified that "true" it has not shipped yet; a/o yesterday. IMO, it's very POOR business practice, and bordering on illegal to advertise something for sale that you don't have in your possession. :|

I sell on eBay and sometimes items not actually in stock do sell. When the item is not available and cannot be ordered, I have to suck up to the customer and refund if payment was sent. Sucks, but there's not really any other way with that kind of volume. If I were you I would just wait. I think at this point it's clear that the item is there and you will get it. So don't worry. :)

When I ordered my Fuji A210 from Tigerdirect.ca it took a week and I'm in Canada. UPS kept screwing up so I ended up getting it almost a week later than that. No big deal though, I paid and I got item. It's all good.

I got an email back from him overnight; at least he replies quickly to emails!

He said:

Yes it was released to Fedex and will arrive shortly. It was released to
FEdex earlier on Tuesday

Interesting. The FEDEX tracking number I got last week still shows nothing and I've not received any other tracking number either from FEDEX or the guy himself.

I'll believe it when I see it. Though I'm about 90% sure I won't get screwed on this, I still think he has a piss-poor business model. 11,000+ positive feedbacks? They can't be genuine...no way.

I'll be adding my own FAIR feedback once (if?) I get what I paid for. I'm an honest person; I tell it like it is. I.E. "Slow shipper; took 8 days to ship after payment was received. However, item was well packed and item was as promised." Like that. I think that is more than fair. Besides, if I was thinking of buying from someone, I'd want to see a feedback like that.

You have every right to be pissed. If this were AT FS/FT instead of ebay, you'd have everyone screaming troll. Bad business to be selling something you don't have in stock regardless of cost.

Thank you! I appreciate everyone's feedback in this thread. However, I had to do  at the folks that said "Oh, I do this all the time!" Taht's such BS!!!! Then people wonder why some folks won't buy on EBay.

I must admit; in the years of buying stuff from there (about 2-3/year) I've never been screwed. I've had some close calls though; only through me being a PITA did folks go "Well...maybe it's best if I don't screw this particular guy." That's my opinion, anyway.

I'll believe it when I see it. I feel OK about it...the guy did return the Green Card from the Certified Mail I sent w/the payment. That's pretty legal proof.

Hope that wasn't directed towards me..

I really only sell a few items on eBay, for my mom's ex-husbands business. Sometimes, there is a 4-6 week lead time. In that case, your winning bid is a "reserve order". Of course, this is all at the very top of the auction in big 12pt red letters.

Even then, I've had 1 "misunderstanding"(read: blind illiterate fool). lol...

Didn't generate a negative, though. They were happy with the product. :)

Nope. You're in the clear b/c you clearly advertise it as such. That's honest business. :)

There's was no such "disclaimer" on this guys' ads. Feedback will reflect that.

It shipped last night...at midnight, with a new delivery date of this Saturday, which of course, FEDEX doesn't deliver on Saturday unless you pay for it, so that means Monday. :| He couldn't ship it yesterday so I get it Friday, right? Nooooooooo, of course not.
