Ebay and Paypal suck. It isn't safe at all. I know someone who purchased the retail DVD set of Lost First Season. They paid with paypal, but the item never came. Paypal+Ebay only reimbursed them for $10 dollars, because that was all they could get from the person account.

A year ago I know someone who paid 2000 for a notebook with paypal. Instead of a notebook a bunch of books came. Paypal wouldn't even give them a dollar, saying there was nothing they could do.

Yeah, I really want to buy a new guitar amp off of eBay, but I'm afraid of the high dollar deals. I don't have a problem selling as long as I get all the cash, of course. Because I KNOW I am going to ship my stuff. If I buy some 10 dollars video cable or something, and I don't get it, its no big deal. But if I bought something like your friend did (the 2,000 dollar notebook) and didn't get it, or got something I didn't want, I would definately lose my cool.

Has anyone purchased a computer for the purpose of gaming from ebay, only to find it has been hardware banned from all PB games so they can't play their games online with it?

There's like a hundred reasons why NOT to buy things on Ebay, but then there are other great reasons to shop there. I haven't been burned, but I haven't bought a whole lot other than custom parts for my car.

Yea Selling stuff on ebay is fine, since you know you have the cash. Even though I don't like it that much, I do buy low cost items on ebay. If I am out 20 dollars no big deal.

They didn't use a CC, they transfered money from their bank account to paypal.

Yeah, you didn't know about that? If you try to hack punkbuster, they ban your hardware so that you can't play ANY PB-enabled games EVER on that computer. When they were first implementing it, people talked about how theoretically people could find these computers on ebay and get a nice surprise.

If I do that, what do I do with the feedback stuff?

Change the NIC, reinstall the OS. Problem solved.
