Not even going to bother with a story, just some cliffs.

1. Sold item on eBay for $600
2. Received paypal, shipped to unconfirmed address with delivery confirmation (yeah, I know)
3. Buyer receives item, leaves me feedback saying thanks blah blah
4. Buyer files an unauthorized funds dispute

Now, where do I go from here? I know he received it, he even left me freakin feedback.

It is a possibility that someone has broken into their account, but what kind of scammer would talk to me and say thanks and then leave me feedback.

Where do you go from there? You put any and all documentation (ALL correspondance, tracking info, etc.) in your reply to the dispute, and point out that the fvcker left feedback.

But you're screwed anyway, because you shipped to an uncomfirmed address, you fvcktard numbskull.

Well, leaving feedback that the item was delivered, paying with paypal, and winning the Auction, I believe carry more weight than the unconfirmed shipping address.

Of course all of the above could still mean a hacked account.

You should be ok, unless there is some information missing. Link to auction?

You shipped to an unconfirmed address, that's a no no. No real way to protect yourself now, just give Paypal all the info you have, and pray that they don't screw you too bad.

Same thing happened to me, except I shipped to a confirmed address. Guess what? I was still screwed. I lost $350. Last time I sold anything on eBay.

I think I might go this route too. Thank you everyone for the advice. Lesson learned. The freakin hard way.

2 paypal accounts FTW! Use one for receiving funds. I got one to move money out of as soon as it gets in. Its tied to a frozen CC and a bank account that has $20 in it. My credit union let me open up a second checking account as long as there is $20 in it.

Some people are just losers and will file a dispute with thier CC company. I bet this one has nothing to do with fraud, just some asshat wanting a free $600 item.

Update: The guy e-mailed me and said his account was hacked into and now he can't get back into it. Time to get the police involved.

If you think this setup is going to protect you from being hounded by PP, CC, or collectors, I've got news for you.

So is he saying he got the item and this other stuff is bogus crap from someone hacking his account, or is he saying someone hacked his account and as a result he never got the goods?

The guy who e-mailed me is the original owner of the account who claims someone hacked into his account and purchased and received items without his knowledge. He does not have the goods. Supposedly...

Well I don't see how you can be blamed for someone hacking his account. You did your part of the agreement, which was to send the item to the shipping address provided. It's not like you had any idea about the account being hacked.

If people can get money back like this, the system would be abused: "Item received, oh wait my account was hacked I actually didn't get it." That's just dumb.

Well the thing is, I know my fate with paypal/ebay already. I'm screwed. Nothing I can do about it.

The person who had his account hacked is a complete dumbass for letting that happen.

The scammer is a complete dick for scamming everyone.

I am a complete idiot for shipping to an unconfirmed address. But even if it was confirmed, paypal/ebay still wouldn't have given a damn.

Moral of the story: Why the hell do I still use paypal/ebay?

There are two possible scenarios I can think of:

a) buyer is trying to scam OP.

b) buyer fell for one of scam emails asking them to confirm PP account by divulging all personal info.

Probably B

If I ever got an email from paypal like that saying there was fruad, or someone is filing a dispute, and it was a fairly large sum of money I would go down to my bank and take all the money out until everything got settled so paypal couldnt get their greedy hands on it.
