This auction

Shipped dirty and smelling of cigarettes the bowl got smashed.

Guy's a jerk, I told him to refund me $13, that pays for his shipping and is no loss to him, he's playing a prick and saying "I offered insurance, all sales are final"

Yes, yes, ebay sucks.

Is there something HERE that will help you?

I do not know if you can do a credit card charge back if you actually got the goods. Call and ask them.

Whether insurance was offered is irrelevant. Since the packaging was inadquate, you would not have been able to make a claim anyway. If you can think of any way to get your money back, do it, then neg him. If you can't get your money back, neg him and ship him feces. And never buy anything from anyone that has "nawlins" in their user name.

This is exactly why I love this place.

Ok, suggestions on how best to optimise my negative? 80 characters isn't a lot.

And suggestions on a response to his inevitable reciprocal neg.?

~~~the last exchange~~~
I'm not being unreasonable. I can't understand why you're offended. If you're really unwilling to compromise and come to an agreement about this, then you leave me no choice but to leave you a negative.
I have paid you $29 for something which through your negligence I can only use half of. I think I've been very reasonable, if $13 is worth the negative to you so be it.
Eddie's a jerk, and you giving him a negative will make his rating go down by 3%, so neg him!
the negs are there for a reason - even if you do get your money back, dealing with this person is a pita, you need to warn people
leave the neg w/ something like 'shipped bad & damaged, no ins offered, seller would not refund shipping" fits in 80 chars
He did. I wouldn't have insured it, it's a $29 item. While I realize that technically his ass is covered, I still maintain the guy's a prick. He shipped crappily. 1 inch of ciggarette smoke imbued newpaper is not sufficient to protect a GLASS BOWL on a cross country voyage.
I'm not asking the guy for a full refund, I never did, just the $13 diff.
Yes. It's preposterous. Both negs on my record are complete bullsh!t. The other was from a guy in HI who bought a $2 book, when it didn't show up in under a week he neg'd me, no contact no nothing, I sent another my expense, he got them both on the same day, because he lives in HAWAII!!! He sent me e-mail saying, "Gee, really sorry about that negative, got them both, thanks a lot!" and ignored all my e-mails asking to remove the neg.
People are retarded.
Was that neutral against you regarding packing issues justified?
No. The shipping information was clear on the auction. IIRC he won a few action figures, they were packed together in a priority mail shipping box with no clearance for jostling. I make it a point to pack well.
I think my profit on that auction was between $3 and $5 after shipping.
Last e-mail:
You're uncompromising.
I offered you a no loss solution, and you refused.
Do you happen to have another bowl for the oven that you packed so carelessly? Of course not. It cost you $16 to ship it and offereing me $13 to do the same is just a passive-agressive way to 'win'.
I was reasonable, you're intent on not giving ground. You've earned the negative.
Reciprocating with a negative, when I upheld my end of the deal by paying you what you asked for is pretty shallow.
Good luck in the future. Invest in bubble wrap.
