It's generic.

Shrug. I'd do it. It's probably just as good as the OEM battery. Then again, maybe not. But if it only lasts 150 charge cycles instead of 400, who cares for 5$?

Just be SURE it's the right battery for your camera.

Right, I don't mind that... especially if the OEM is $40+.... what I would be worried about is potential damage to the camera. Am I just being paranoid?

It won't damage the camera as long as it is the same voltage and the contacts are the same, battery quality doesen't come into play there.

I guess it would be bad if it exploded or leaked or something weird, but I don't think you have much to worry about.
