A friend of mine won an auction for a super maxed out Dell inspiron. Seller is located in some eastern european country that nobody's ever heard of. Seller only takes checks, money order, and western union.

My friend already sent out the check. Should I laugh at him or does he actually have a chance at getting a laptop for a killer price??

I've told him a couple times to stop payment, but he seems adamant about getting that laptop. Any suggestions about what I can tell him to get him to stop?

Why? Most people don't learn until they see the consequence. Some people don't learn, ever. Besides it's his money, just sit back and LOL @ his greed.

Cyprus is not an eastern European country, and most people have heard of it.

I have no idea how good a deal that is, but if it seems too good to be true... well it probably is.

Looking at the feedback and the items bought and sold by the member I'm not really sure anymore, it seems like a real deal. But as another member said, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

He's gone from selling 0 laptops in the past to selling over 10 maxed out laptops at the same time...

All the good deals are to be found in Nigeria.

I've already sent $10k by Western Union for products and I'm just waiting for them to arrive. I suggest you do the same. And I know this guy is legit because he's a prince.

I wouldn't trust that. Most of the stuff he's sold has been cheap obsolete hardware. Most of the stuff he's bought has been cheap junk. Funny how all of the sudden he has a bunch of "maxed out" dell notebooks to unload.

But now the seller has the routing number and account number data that is located on the bottom of the check. Wonder how hard it would be to use that data overseas and also how hard it would be to prosecute them if they do this...

If you believe even 0.1% of that, you deserve to get scammed.
