If I understand the eBay rules correctly, the seller (Aimster) is not obligated to do the local pick up or drop off. Since this is Aimster's auction, he is the one that sets the rules. So if Aimster doesn't want to do the local thing, then the buyer is obligated to complete the auction via shipping. The buyer cannot give negative feedback to Aimster due to the fact that he didn't want to do the local thing. Under eBay rules, if the auction ended with no reserve, the buyer, under contracts of eBay, will need to complete the transaction. If the buyer still does not want to complete the transaction, then Aimster CAN give negative feedback and initiate the non-paying bidder whatnot. If the buyer gives negative feedback, Aimster can holler at eBay to get it removed. Aimster is willing to complete the transaction, but just not the buyer's way. That is why you must always make it VERY clear on the auction that local pickup is NOT offered. It's best to get that out of the way in the auction.

Don't be such a bunghole about it - no use in charging some shipping a on friggen' dvd - tell him to meet you somewhere that's convienient for you - easy as that.

Just say that you're too busy to do a lock pickup. I allow local pick ups sometimes if the person asks in advance.

If this guy is crazy and demanding a local pick up, just tell him that you're too busy for that. There are some insane people on eBay that I would never want to meet in person.

So wait... your dumb ass has time to stop by the post office to send it to him but doesn't have time to have him pick it up or drop it off to him?

If you've ever tried a pickup/drop off, then you'll know how much of a pain it can be. Confusing directions, sudden emergencies, mismatching schedules, etc. But then again if it is something hobby related it can be fun, I sold some carputer stuff one time and ended up hanging out at the dude's place for a couple of hours talking shop.

No, as the buyer and the one who unwillingly agrees to do the pickup, he can ask what the other person's schedule is like, tell him when to be there and say if you aren't there at that time then he can pay for shipping. The ball is entirely in his court here.

At which point you have a stranger coming to your house. Not something everybody likes.

So it's perfectly acceptable to give strangers hundreds of dollars on ebay and hope they actually ship what you paid for, but not to tell them where to leave so you can open your front door in broad daylight, give them an item and then close your door?

Yes it is. If you don't like it, then why do you even bother to buy an item off of eBay?

If he seems like an ebay newbie bastard, then make up a reasonable excuse like you can't do that because of insurance reasons, you're out of town but your friend is going to be shipping the item so you don't want to bother him, etc.

Just mail it out and don't charge him. It's not going to be too expensive mail at the regular first-class rate, is it?

See if that's OK with the weasel--I mean buyer.

It's only an $8 sale, and it sounds like time/convenience is the more important factor for you here, so it?s a cheap way to get him off your back at this point.

Then specify Sorry--No Personal Pickup in the future.
