I thought I had "immediate payment required" set for this auction. No money has transferred hands, and I haven't shipped anything of course.

So I wake up this morning with an e-mail from seller-online.com wanting me to click on a link to their site. So, I get the impression, although very hesitant obvioulsy, this guy is using an escrow service to pay for the server.

I have never heard of nor worked with seller-online.com. Does anyone have any experience here? Is this a scam?

Any info is GREATLY appreciated.

Yes. I have contacted the buyer, and said the same. I was very nice about it. His feedback is good, and the things he has purchased in the past are networking items.

Send e-mail ... give buyer 24 more hours for PayPal or Money Order and after period has passed, leave negative and relist.

That site looks pretty sketchy to me. I wouldn't go for it. The whois really makes me nervous... foreign? F that.

Thank you everyone.

Yeah, the site not showing up on the escrow database, and the fact that the site is foreign is making me smell scam. I have contacted Ebay and they weren't very helpful. I am now waiting to hear back from my rep at PayPal to see if they have any information. I have also yet to hear back from the buyer.

Just tell him you don't work with Escrows and he needs to get you the money. It's your auction, it's your decision.

Received message from buyer...

Hi, I'm from Russia and cannot to pay via PayPal.
Protek Trading Co will to pay you.
After you receive the payment, please ship the server to confirmed address of Protek.
Thank you.

Yeah, right.

I contacted Ebay Power Seller support. The agent read through my auction, and told me to go ahead and relist the item, contact the buyer and tell him that I will not sell the item to him, and wait 7 days and file item as unpaid to get my money back for the auction fees. So this is what I am doing.

I would've told the guy you'll be waiting for his "payment" from protek...once you get it you can send him a P-P-P-Poweredge ;)

Well, now things have changed again.

I just received payment in full via PayPal. Confirmed address is in California. From ProTek Tracding Co.

Protek Trading Company
3110 E. Via Mondo
Compton, CA 90221
United States

What do you all think. I have contacted my rep at PayPal. She said that as long as I ship it to this address, I am covered by PayPal. I am starting to think this is legit. The buyer's feedback is good, he buys networking products like fiber optic cables, etc.

I got 24 hours before I would like to ship.

don't bother doing crap like that, someone in the states is gonna need what you're selling and pay for it.

selling overseas is nothing but hassle & scam

Well, I agree. But I am selling it to a company in CA. They are selling it to dude in Russia. I have informed the guy that the warranty listed in the auction probably will not apply to him.

If it's a verified addy in PP, then you'll be at least partially covered by the protection program, but I'd take a good hard look at the fine print of what is (or is not) covered by the protection. Also, was the PP payment funded with a credit card? If so, it could turn out to be a stolen card and PP will yank the $$ away from you once they determine that the card is no good. You're left with no $$ and no server.

I don't think this is the case.

I have done some googling and the company, from what I can see, is legit. Unless anyone has any other thoughts, I am shipping tomorrow. From what my PP rep has told me, and from what I have seen so far, everything looks legit, or at least I will be covererd.

As long as the buyer is VERIFIED and you ship to a CONFIRMED address you'll be safe.
