And the offers are ridiculous, like offering 10%-20% of the retail price for an item that is new? They should make a serious offer if they honestly think they have a shot at the item. So far I had my item on eBay for 2 days and I got 2 jackasses trying to lowball me. I had to resist myself from writing them a nasty e-mail. :|

People think they can do that if the item isn't selling. Sometimes they're right.

One time I put up a $700 digital camera with a starting price of $5 (I start all my auctions at $5) and within the first hour it was listed some jackass sent me an email offering me $50 shipped for it. I politely sent him an email saying " not possible" and the guy actually replied telling me how I didn't have any bids anyway, why won't I sell it? UH, it was only listed for an hour, dumbass.......

Yeah. Those people are just hoping that you don't know what it's really worth. Some nut offered me $40 total for my Super Metroid and Final Fantasy 3 games that were up for auction (SNES games). I obviously declined him. They went on to sell for about $125 total.

LOL, actually I am in the same situation. I had just listed the item and I started mine at $10. These idiots saw that it had no bids (after several hours) and thought they could get it for a price no human would sell it for and gave me an offer. Most of the bids come within the last couple of hours before the auction end anyway.

In the email you get from ebay, it strictly says that if someone contacts you about doing business outside of ebay, to report them. just do that.

I often email people with this request. I'm not an idiot though and offer them something way below FMV. I usually ask what their reserve is and ask if they would be willing to simply sell it at that price to me right now. If they turn down the offer I politely understand/accept and explain I will bid on the item in that case.

Yeah, I get these emails every now and then.

I used to politely suggest the person bid whatever they're offering on the auction and see if they win. Now, I don't even bother to answer.

I once got a guy offering to buy something after a no bid auction for a higher price than I was offering in the auction IF I was willing to send it to Sweden or something. He sent Western Union, and it all worked out.

This is when you say, sure you will sell it for 40.... plus 100 for shipping.
People are asshats trolling trying to take advantage of people...

They are impatient
They are cheap
And are annoying.. in short, their really smartasses; wouldn't pay your asking price, always way below or whatever they think it's worth.
