Ok I purchased some 4x dvd-r media off of ebay. The buy some good reviews. He had the type of media I wanted.

Auction

Notice it says "These discs are OEM versions of the NEW Samsung 4X Media"

I take that to mean Samsung media. Not any other brand. I wanted Samsung media because with my experience I had only had good experiences with it. I have been willing to pay more money for it.

Here is the media id for the media he sent me:

LEADDATA01

Here is what known Samsung BeAll media has for a media id:

BeAll G40001

His response is this:

"You bought OEM media manufactured by Samsung/BeAll released under the BeAll Logo and private label. I have made sure to state that these were OEM discs in the description of each auction.

We purchase our product through the BeAll distribution channel and they assure me that all OEM disks at this time have the LEADDATA ID. I have confirmed and reconfirmed this issue myself and have been assured that the BeAll supplier does not even sell LEADDATA branded product."

My problem with this is OEM means Original Equipment Manufactorer. He is the reseller so that means it should be made by Samsung.

Am I totally off base???? In my view, he could just go buy the cheapest media and sell it on Ebay as OEM Samsung BeAll media.

My next step is to email the BeAll department and ask if all their media has the BeAll media id.

BTW I am a little annoyed because he had another auction where I bought more "Samsung" media from him before I ever got my first auction. So now I could be stuck with crappy media.

No one start calling this guy a scammer yet. I need to know if I am totally off base then I intend to try and work this situation out with him.

In the very least, if I am wrong, his auction is VERY misleading.

UPDATE

He gave me a refund on both auctions. He got pissed because I was expecting too much for the value of my dollar. I guess since the auction didn't sell for that much, I shouldn't expect support.

"You might be able to spend this kind of time over $6.80 for discs that cost me $12.35 to get to you. But I cannot. For businesses to exist they must make a profit OVERALL. I can tell you lack any sense of appropriateness about proper expectations for your buck.

I am immediately refunding your money on both auctions. Keep the discs you have. Do your research. You are welcome to report your findings. But no matter the result, you can never give me back my time today. "

My other auction was for around $40 for 30 disc. I guess that wasn't enough of a bid for him to spend some of his time to clear up a problem.

Should I leave feedback for this guy? If I had like 50 or more feedback then I certainly wouldn't give a crap but I only have 10 and I rarely use Ebay so I like having good feedback when I do use it.

"I will leave your feedback open unless you choose to leave feedback for us. If you do leave us feedback we will of course do the same for you. "

That is what he told me. So if I leave a neg I know he will do the same for me. I would like to warn people but I also don't need the neg on my account.

If this were Heatware then I would definately leave feedback because Heat will remove undeserving feedback. This guy doesn't have a leg to stand on in my case. I just questioned the media because it isn't what it said in the auction. I payed the bill within 30 minutes on both auctions. I did what I could in the trade and I tried to solve the problem. I had already emailed BeAll to check with them to confirm that this media was in fact made by them. I guess he couldn't wait so he went ahead and refunded my money.

I guess I should be happy I didn't lose any money on this deal.

This is from that auction, sounds like they are the pot calling the kettle black.

Dear Happy Bidder:

We have learned a thing or two in the last week about selling on eBay. For one thing, some people will brazenly sell junk, causing you to waste time and hard earned money, yet they seem to manage to sell product and maintain reasonable feedback.

We have seen many resellers use words like HIGH QUALITY or PREMIUM or TOP SHELF or BEST ON EBAY when they are selling NO NAME, UNBRANDED, LOW END product, and still they seem to manage to sell product and maintain reasonable feedback.

EDIT: wrong bb code, lol

lol

I just have an issue with the crazy definition of OEM. By his definition, a company could advertise "NEW OEM AMD CPU" and send out a Cyrix chip as long as he bought it from AMD's distributor.

Well I have an idea of where he is getting his reply. If you pay attention to who makes cd-r media, there are only like 5 makers. Then every company repackages the media as their own. BUT the difference is that he is stating this is OEM Samsung media. Meaning that Samsung is the OEM. Meaning Samsung makes the media.

It says "Samsung/BeAll OEM 4x Certified" on their website...

Why doesn't it say it on the auction then?? 😕

POSunplugged.com, lmao, we all know what POS stands for.

Personally I don't care if it says certified or not. He advertised it as Samsung media in the auction and that is what I expected. It isn't what I got.

I hope I can resolve this problem with the seller. It is the first problem I have had on ebay. I am always cautious about buying on ebay. That is why I only have 10 feedback.

You are not dealing with the sharpest tool in the woodshed. Tell him you will email the top bidders in his other auctions and let them know it's "beAll" media if he refuses to refund/cancel the transaction.

Well actually if it was BeAll media then I would be happy. Samsung owns BeAll. The problem is that it is LeadData media which doesn't please me in the least.

Anyways, I sent him another email explaining my view on the situation. Hopefully he will email me back with an acceptable solution. I really don't want a negative on my Ebay feedback. It has taken me like 5 years just to get 10 feedbacks 🙂

EDIT: Oh yeah, Just thought I would put in a plug for Newegg. They rock!!! Ordered a USB Pen Drive on Sunday and I got it today. I live on the other side of the country.

Sounds like feedback blackmail to me. Can't you report that to SquareTrade or somethign?
