Usually it means he'll charge the actual cost of shipping to wherever you're located. I try to avoid auctions like that though because they can charge whatever they feel like.

Uh, it means that he charges actual shipping.

I never understood how people figure out shipping charges before they know your zip code. Either they make a few dollars, or they lose a few dollars.

I always waited until the auctions end and charged actual shipping.

just to make it "non-confusing" i charge a little extra for shipping, but keep it at a flat fee...stay away from this shady deal

Exactly. As often as not, I end up eating a few cents. My last sale was for a small item. I charged $4.00 + $1.30 ins (optional). But with the DC# I ended up eating like 40c. No biggie. I just try to make it realistic.

I crack up over people selling shizt that should cost $4-5 to ship, and they charge $15-20! Unless the item is so cheap the extra money to ship is still cheap, it's not worth it and I avoid.

Well in your ebay listing you probably say that you are going to charge ACTUAL SHIPPING COST to the ebayer buyer though right?

If its not stated the seller can charge what he wants.

Nope, heh..

I just assumed everybody figured that. Besides, I'm not in the business of losing money.. so if I charged a flat rate, I would have to base it on worse case scenario(east coast). That means midwesterners westward would be getting the shaft.

That's just silly. You guys are silly.

It's like something i saw linked here a few days ago, something being sold on BIN for like $5, but with a $200 fixed shipping charge.

Another way to get inexperienced buyers to get it on what they think is a good deal, but then get ripped off on "shipping", in fact making it more expensive than other places.

Just signup for an Airborne Account and use your shipping.

Packages upto like 35lbs can be shipped for about 16 bucks ground.

They'll pickup at whichever location you specify

Well there are two options:

- Charge a flat fee for items and then either lose money on some and gain extra cash on others

OR

- Charge the acual shipping cost....maybe with like a 5 or 10% handling charge for your time/effort.

I don't think either way is less fair really...because although the 2nd one you are charging more like what it actually costs....they commit to buying before knowing the cost....if you specify weight or even how you will ship then they can probably check.

Did you look at the auction? Check down near the bottom, the Shipping section.

Actual shipping costs + $2.00 handling. He DID state it.

And of course the people who sell a 400 dollar for item for 1 dollar with S&H at 399. I guess this helps search results.

I never used ebay, and likely never will. Just a bunch of 15 year olds with credit cards.

I've been a member since I was 14.. before they required credit cards to sell.
