YAEbT: Can people just not read?

I just ran an auction on eBay. In the payment section, I clearly stated that I do not have a premier paypal account, so I will not accept Credit Card payments, paypal transfers only. I even put this very clearly in the invoice I sent the guy. So what do I get? A credit card payment, of course! So I denyed payment. If this guy refuses to pay any other way except credit card, can I just put the item back on eBay?

Non Paying bidder and relist like the other guy said.

And the reason you don't take credit cards is because they charge you a fee for that so you don't get all of your money.

You get charged a fee on your transactions. And not just credit card transactions, ALL transactions.

Isn't it like 1-2%?

Not exactly sure. On this particular transaction, it worked out close to $10. When you're outta work, 10 bucks makes a difference! 😀

The problem is that you reduce # of bidders by half, as a result your final sale price will be lower (more bidders --> higher final value). What good is it to save the 2% paypal fee?

The auction got the going rate for what I was selling, so it really didn't matter. I don't sell enough for it to be a big deal.

Most people tell me that they feel they do better with their auctions by accepting CC through PayPal even after accounting for the fees. Especially if what you are selling are impulse buy items.

This was an underwater camera housing for a Canon A-70, which sell pretty well on eBay. The only stuff I've ever sold on eBay is stuff like Gamecube, iPod, leather jacket. I've always gotten what I expected for the items (and in the case of the jacket, about $70 more than I thought I would), so I just don't have a premier account. If I was a higher volume seller, I probably would though. I sell one item every few months or so.
