YAEbayT: Seller unresponsive to emails

Hello all

I had won an auction on Thursday evening, immediately after which an automated invoice was sent. My problem was with the shipping amount, in that it seemed the wrong information was inputed to derive it. The auction stated that international shipping was simply "more", something I understand, but not 2-3X more than comparable previous items I had won.

Anyways, I emailed the seller on Friday and once more on Sunday to no avail. I am being unreasonable in expecting a reply in this time frame even though the seller has present active auctions?

Thanks

If the auction did nto have a set amount then they can charge what they want. thats why you ask BEFORE you bid, not after you bid and win.

pay up and learn.

As I stated in my post, I do not mind paying but does the seller have a duty to reply to emails after the auction, especially when I have reason to believe that shipping variables are incorrect?

You essentially paying for the seller to wait in line and fill out customs form... Shippin and HANDLING

its merely a business... I can charge whatever I want for a cup of coffee.

I thank you for the responses but it seems no one has comprehended the original post. If it is confusing, I apologize. I will re-word it: Is it appropriate for the seller to not respond to questions after the auction, regarding incorrect shipping? This question is irrespective of the consideration of my ability to pay any amount of shipping.

It's nice to get quick replies, but in my experience it can take a week. After that, I get a bit peeved. Many ebay sellers don't spend a lot of time online.

They should respond to you after the auction has ended on any questions you have. While any objection you may have are moot, questions should be answered within a few days. Now if you're replying to the automated address that sent you the invoice, that might be why you've gotten no response. Have you sent the email via your Ebay account? If so and no response, then don't pay until they respond. Eventually they should try and contact you if payment hasn't been made. I will say that communication with big sellers on EBay sucks. Many put all these items up for bid, but don't respond to questions as they don't have the time or just don't care. Maybe you can file a complaint with EBay or something if they don't respond.

Thank you Kranky & AMCRambler

I believe I will wait for a few more days before attempting to contact the seller again. I sent all contact through the MyEbay page. I do not believe that just because you are a "seller", it confers some immunity from responding to legitimate questions after an auction is completed.

For those interested, the following is the sellers reply:

Hello,
I hope the folling fact eases your mind ,the reserve Price was set below what I paid for it so your getting it at a barain price as is . Sorry but the Postage + Handling Fee remains the same. If there was a Question about this it should have been asked before the bidding not renegotiated after the fact . You'll be getting a beautiful piece for a more than fair price . I am not out cheat anyone but I am not out to lose money either .
Best Regards K

Essentially, what is implied is the item went for less than the seller anticipated and now they wish to recoup the difference through "shipping and handling". Chalk another one for the vagaries of Ebay
