YAEbaysuxT: Why are people so dumb?

there was an auction that the starting bid was $38 and so was the Buy it now...well i was about to buy it now of course...and some moron bid on it without doing buy it now

I just saw an auction for a collectible that went for over $1500. There's a 99.9% chance the item is a fake, and no knowledgable person would bid more than $20. It was an ebay private auction, probably so no one could warn the bidders before it was too late. And the photo was so poor, you had no way to be sure it was authentic.

It's not bad enough that someone threw away $1500 - there was obviously someone else willing to pay $1450! Oy!

If that's the case it's unlikely that the bid was real. Some people have multiple e-bay accounts and bid on items that they themselves are selling to drive up the price, in hopes that a fool will outbid them near the end.
