On the south beach, phase one, 4th day. I drank a gallon of water and it's only 3pm and my throat is still dry! I'm 210 (trying to get to 195) 6 foot.... is this normal?

When you drink to much water it will remove the natural saliva from your mouth, thus making you feel more thirsty.

see I've tried that but I have no will power... the south beach diet isn't as bad as atkins, that's why I wanted to try it. (ie it doesn't allow you to eat strips of bacon for a snack). I want to lose the gut, but don't want to do cardio :), but I do weight lift.

this is a great question. something about reducing carbs seems to make it harder for your body to retain water.

Your excess intake of nitrogen containing products makes your kidneys work overtime. You need to expell all that excess, and get dehydrated in the process. DRINK UP

It's your body getting rid of that pesky glycogen. The stuff that lets you lift weights and sprint and do all that icky intense exercise.

Piss away those pounds, wheeeeeee!

Not for long, I think. Once the body loses much of the water content, you'll be fine.

Thats the problem man :(

Pick a sport? Tennis? Bball? Indoor rock climbing?

Do one when you can 2x a week and i gurantee you rip up nicely after a month of hard playing.

Lifting weights will only get you so far you need to put the time in cardio to get cut.

Well good luck!

Ding Ding Ding! You've got the "I'll try to discredit Atkins with information that is completely wrong!" award for this thread!
