Where does the voltage stepdown from 110v occur, at the individual fixtures?

Time to plan a minor kitchen refurb. We bought a new flat top range, we're gonna paint our ugly dark cabinets and put in the recessed cans.

Thanky.

Usually there is a transformer before any of the fixtures.

FYI, low voltage transformer cannot be behind permanently concealed, and you must use special wiring, IIRC. Check the NEC.

Before each can? ie. Six cans, six transformers? These cans will be mounted in the open attic, above the kitchen.

Thanks, wiz.

Do you have an example of the cans? Usually low voltage has a few all in series, pre-wired, plugs, most often.

No example yet, prolly check the local Home Depot first. This is all planning stage so I'd like to guage my level of competence first.

Dealing with outdoor low voltage lights, you have one transformer which runs multiple lights. I would assume that indoor low voltage lights should be setup in a similiar way.

This is my experience in maybe 4-5 fixtures.

What is your goal in this? Between the cabinet and the ceiling?

6-8 fixtures between the cabs and the ceiling.
