lol, I thought about that.
But I figure this way it will stay on the front page for quite awhile.
 
Don't go for the lower end Sonys. If you're gonna go for something mid-tier go with Canon. If you want higher end stuff then I would suggest the V1 from Sony or the F717 if you don't mind the size.
 
s230 by canon is 3.2 mp, 2x zoom but it has a fantastic movie mode 640x480... not many other cameras have this high resolution in movie mode ....the a70 mih=ght..

Yeah, I've looked at some of the Elph's.
But the s230 is about the same price as the A70 and only has 2x optical zoom instead of 3x. And I don't think it has as many manual settings.
 
The elphs are a little too small for man-hands to be happy using. I am still happy with my S30. A70 is a good camera from what people say, but if you don't need the ability to quickly change batteries (disposables vs type specific) and would prefer something a little smaller than the "grip" type of cameras, you really should check out the S45s.
