I came across YaCy Search Engine a free P2P on the net one day and liked its freedom of information values so now I support it and troubleshoot the project in my spare time.

Say goodby to submitting links, craw you own web site.
Can be used on intranet also.
For more details see http://yacy.net/en/index.html

If you decide to try it make sure you download the latest DEV release its in Administration top left after you install version 1.66 from above site.

You can find things in it Google does not have.
Works on windows, Linux and Mac.
Runs in Java you may need to download that if you haven't got it.

I dont like being recorded just have a look at the tracking information in a search URL... client=firefox-a&gfe_rd=cr&ei=dvjiUpqOK8mN8Qfv1ICgCA#

Looks interesting. In 2011, PC Magazine gave it relatively good marks, especially for a newcomer.

I don't have time to check it further, right now, but I wanted to post this so other moderators wouldn't delete it as spam and ban your account, at least without serious further consideration. 🙂

Yea, it's legit software, and for anyone wanting to get away from tracking completely, it's a good choice. You aren't gonna get Google results, but they might be good enough. I haven't had time to play with it either, but it's been on my radar for awhile.

There is also another project coming.
YaCyPi will be a turnkey solution for the Raspberry Pi to turn a common ordinary Raspberry Pi (Model B) into your own search engine.

The idea is have a little box connected to your network to perform searches on the Yacy freeworld network.
