Before purchasing my 98 grand marquis, the windshield was replaced. Apparently whoever my dad got to do it, did not complete the job because the rear view mirror is loose. The metal mount part seems to be glued properly to the rear view mirror but the plastic housing that goes around the metal part is loose.
Because of this, whenever I'm driving, my rear view mirror keeps shaking. A friend was telling me there might be a screw that needs to be tightened but I couldn't see one.
I tried to look it up in the Haynes manual at Advanced auto parts but it didn't seem to have a section for replacing your rear view mirror even. Anyone know how to fix it on this particular car?

TIA

No idea. All I can suggest is take it apart and figure it out.
Depending on the design you may just need another mirror

I couldn't get it off. I was afraid to break it. I couldnt' find anything online either. Perhaps a guide on how to change the rear view mirror would work fine I think.

My dad has a '97 Crown Vic. Basically the same car. His rearview mirror is very loose also - I remember I looked at it once, and couldn't find what was wrong with it. Granted, I didn't look very long, as I was in a hurry.

I'm not near the car now, otherwise I'd go out there and try to get a better look at it.
