My dad is currently leasing a BMW 330Cic and the front fender came off this afternoon. He wants to take it to the dealer and fix it, but it's going to cost a lot compared to one of the "German Auto Specialists" who charge 1/2 to 1/3 of the price.

It doesn't seem like a big thing ... I have pics up to help me explain the problem.

Would it be an okay job for a non-dealer to work on?

that looks as if it could be costly. almost looks like the plastic clips snapped that hold it on.and that would require a completely new bumper.

that sucks.

now what do you want answered?

where to go?

go wherever you want to go.

I have no clue how it happened! He dropped me off at school today at 6:55AM and it was fine then. I wasn't there when it happened.

He didn't notice it until he came home at lunch to pick up some papers.

My parents have this whole idea in their head that non-dealership repairs aren't quite that good (especially for foreign cars).

But I don't want them to waste money by having the dealership fix it.

damn that sucks... remember though, body shops that do quality work will charge as much as the dealer. ask around see if anyone knows of a good body shop cause that's not a german auto specialist thing, just a bumper that needs work. just hope that the bumper clippings are not broken... (=$$$)

I was able to set it in ...

Hopefully, not too much damage was done :(

if it just fell off than it should be under warranty since it is still under lease

they should be able to tell if it was because of an impact

if he hit something / something hit you than you are going to have to go through insurance or pay outta pocket but a body shop should be able to take care of it

if the whole body kit / front bumper needs to be replaced it is going to be $$$$

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that a new bumper will need to be in order here.

If your parents can afford a BMW they can afford taking it the the stealership to get it repaired.

Hopefully BMW has a bumper-to-bumper warranty!

Why paying the dealership hundreds of dollars to fix this is necessary when it's being LEASED and happened naturally (somehow) is beyond me.

Get it fixed right by the dealership. Your parents can afford it.

You're dad isn't very smart, is he? That didn't just fall off, he was doing something shady and doesn't want to own up to it.
