I am a rube when comes to a cell phone.

It's Tracfone Motorola 120C. Two days ago, when I tried to recharge it with wall adapter, it turned on the back light but the usual 'charging' display didn't show up; and the backlight continued on for hours. After several hours, when I checked the battery level, it didn't change (well, it didn't say it was charging, duh!).

I tried to take out the battery and put it back in several times; it still won't charge.

Is the problem with the battery or the phone unit? I am thinking of getting a new battery, but not sure if it solves the problem.

That doesn't sound like a battery problem; more like a phone problem. Did you drop your cell phone recently?
