...someone is bound to be jealous and fvck w/ you. Ok, so i own a 98 Honda Civic DX, and I mean it's the base model for christs sake. No power anything. i've done a few light mods to it, but nothing major. I've got an all aftermarket audio setup, but you wouldn't notice at a first glance. Also, I've got some decent 15" rims and Yokohama tires. I've also done intake and exhaust, but nothing major. No I haven't put any stickers on my car. In fact, I've taken the "Civic" and "DX" labels off of the back of my ride.

My car was broken into again last night. That's the 4th time! :| Luckily they didn't take anything this time since my faceplate was off, and all of my CD's are burned since the last time they took all of my originals. :|

BTW, I live in a fairly nice apt complex that is primarily all college students. We do happen to live next to a ghetto apt complex though. :|

I'm wondering if I should look into getting a decent car alarm.

and um, the very first thing you do when you invest any money into aftermarket performance/audio parts for your car is a good car alarm. It's definetly a bummer that you car got broken into, (had that happen to me 2 months ago) but you definietly should spend your next paycheck or two or three on getting a car alarm.

And imho, it's the college students jacking your stuff.

Mine hasn't been broken into yet ('98 Corolla CE)...I don't have anything worth stealing, though..but I'm eventually going to have halfway decent sound. A friend of mine has an extra alarm, so I'll probably end up buying it from him.

Get an alarm..if you want to get really fancy, get a strobe kit (Whelen 90w..not a cheap one) and wire it to go off with the alarm. It has to be possible..heh😛

Even after everything you've said in the first paragraph, I still bet your car looks enough like a ricer compared to a stock Civic that it makes it a target. A lot of times "those kind of cars" have nice stereos inside or other good things to steal. Not really fair or right, but cars that look modified will always be targets of stupid people.

I'm pretty sure that they used some device like a "slim-jim" because i could see marks on my driverside glass where it was inserted into the door to lift the lock. Damn, i guess i'm gonna need to save up for an alarm now. 🙁

That really sux...I feel for you. I had my car stereo stolen a few years ago and the insurance company paid me only half of what it would cost to replace it. Insurance companies suck.

Getting an alarm will be more of a deterrent. However, the bottom line is, if someone really wants to steal something from your car...they'll get it one way or another...alarm or no alarm.

Actually get a decent car alarm with a remote setup so that you know immediately when it's happening. Then when that thing goes off at 3:00 am you grab your phone and run out to see what's up and hit 911 if somebody is screwing with.

Translation: I rice my car so I probably have something to steal - yet I used a cheap car and didn't rice it too much so I obviously don't have enough money for an alarm.

You basically made a huge target on your car, doing exactly what theives look for.

a car alarm won't help. when a theif opens the door, the center consol on most cars(where the stereo is) can be pulled out in under 3 seconds, and he's gone.
